“If you weren’t such a clotpole, you’d see that!” Merlin snapped, eyes flashing as he resisted the urge to look over at Cedric. Cedric had started all of this mess and he wished things would go back to how they were. Arthur was making him feel even more worthless than ever with him around and he was about to call it quits.
Merlin bent down and picked up his jacket before he pushed past Arthur and Cedric and went back to his chambers with Gaius. If Arthur wanted a new servant, let him have it. He was done. And he was tired of being made the fool. Merlin was relieved when Gaius wasn’t there, because he could clean himself up in peace and try to ignore the hurt that he felt deep in his chest.
