independent, private, low activity original characters based in eric kripke's supernatural universe. one night, when odessa muyne ( @soothsayher ) arrives home from a shift, a loud ringing filling her ears, earth shakes beneath her feet; a burst of light comes forth, blinding her visage. she has been triggered as a prophet, and her father, caught in the crossfire: has been killed in the process. after fleeing with archangel raziel, she demands to return to the wreckage of her home, where she finds herself upon the doorstep of her childhood best friend's: rueben baker ( @safegaurder ) who refuses to allow her to flee on her own, and without a second thought; rueben has his belongings packed into a duffle, a note left upon the kitchen table. the two find themselves travelling back roads, learning about the supernatural as they go, unravelling the truth about odessa's destiny whilst protecting one another from the wrath of the angels.

this is the story of odessa and rueben: childhood friends who cannot fathom a life without the other in it, of two human being's whose souls are the same. . . of a love that would survive in every lifetime.

she'd been disappearing at the same time. rueben was beginning to feel on edge about it, especially since the odessa that left was drastically different to the one that returned. he'd been waiting on the sofa, book in hand to keep him occupied; it wasn't like him to confront her about what she did with her spare time, they had never been like that with one another. yet, there was a twisting in his gut that convinced him he had to.

when @soothsayher entered, closing the door behind her, rueben looked up from the pages he was barely able to concentrate on. "sit with me," he began, his book now closed with a finger as a bookmark. "needa ask you something."

odessa : a smile curls forth on her delicate features, as she signs to him, 'you are going to live a long, happy life.'

rueben : with reluctance, his gaze returns to the road yet his grin never fades. "you just made that up, what do you really see?"

these mornings they spent together allowed for a semblance of normalcy. though fleeting, it was a time where they could surrender to comfortability; pretend there wasn't danger looming over them. rueben cherished them most of all, the way the sun shining through worn blinds, sleepy - eyes and their bare bones on display made him feel at ease. seen. and maybe, @soothsayher didn't see him in the same light. their mornings made that hope seep into his heart like a cure for all the heartache.

his chest was bare, the slightly cool morning air decorating his sun - kissed skin in goosebumps. the night before's rest wasn't as restless as usual, he was still groggy. rueben rubs his hand over the stubble on his cheeks, standing with his lower back against the bench - top, he was waiting for a fresh pot of coffee to boil when he noticed odessa's frame shifting. "mornin'.." his voice was still raspy from sleep, a small but fond smile on his face as he gazed at his best friend. he thought that these were the moments where she was the most beautiful.

he's elbow deep under the bonnet of his truck, hands slick with oil as he checks it over; beginning to become methodical with the habit as he once had been. rueben baker had been a dead man walking until allowing odessa muyne to lift him back up into the world of the living. it had been awhile now, since he had found himself covered in the dirt from his own grave: it haunted his waking hours still, but he is finding that it isn't as heavy as it once was. "darlin', did you even check her?" rueben asks, brow quirking as he glances up through blonde lashes at @soothsayher.

his books aside, the one thing he was particular about was his truck; fixing it with his old man when he was only seventeen. rueben still recalls the excitement he felt in being able to take odessa for a cruise in it. "she's rough, o. it's a mess in here." if he weren't so concerned about the fact that this could prove a bigger problem ─ despite not yet being certain ─ he'd have scolded himself for the slight irritation in his tone and the way he had sighed.

                𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒  𝐀  𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍  𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐇  𝐓𝐎      pair  of  hues  ,    colored  by  earth’s  soil    &    a  comforting  mug  of  coffee  .    WARMTH    .    it’s  almost  unfair  how  she  casts  such  a  gaze  ,    like  she’s  sometimes  looking  into  the  very  essence  of  your  core  ,    seeing  the  nebulas  that  exploded  for  your  soul  to  be  carved  out  from  carcass  of  galaxies  .    silently  she  observes  the  other  ,    even  when  timid  declaration  is  announced  ,    krissy  doesn’t  break  away  from  taking  in  the  other  .    they’d  had  a  long  day  ,    room  too  quiet  after  all  of  the    CHAOS  .    she  wonders  where  this  sudden  boldness  has  come  from  .    chancing  a  single  step  forward  towards  odessa  ,    &    a  smirk  nearly  cracks  foundation  of  visage  when  ears  catch  a  hint  of  a  gasp  .    would  she  oblige  in  such  a  request    or    was  odessa  preparing  for  a  rejection  ?                 nearing  the  other  it  becomes  clear  odessa’s  breathing  has  turned  staggered  ,    perhaps  calming  nerves  ,    now  krissy  allows  a  half  smile  to  decorate  femme  countenance  .    then  hand  lifts  from  where  it  had  been  dangling  at  her  side  ,    swiftly  moving  a  stray  strand  of  curly  locks  that  obstructed  view  of  wide  eyed  stare  .    but  she  doesn’t  stop  there  ,    she  drags  scarred  knuckles  across  the  outline  of  soft  jawline  ,    slow    &    intentional  .    when  it  reaches  point  of  chin  ,    krissy  gently  tilts  odessa’s  face  up  .    ❛    i’m  definitely  surprised  at  the  proposition  ,    dess  .    ❜    of  course  ,    chambers  has  to  tease  ,    in  her  nature  to  make  pretty  girls  blush  !!    then  she  relinquishes  minx-like  stare  ,    morphing  to  something  more  genuine  ,    maybe  even  more  serious  .    ❛    you  deserve  something  that’s  gonna  mean  more  than  just  anything  .    ❜

the mixture of sun and dirt in his eyes shook rueben to the core. he felt heavy, warm; a different warmth to the one he recalls from the pit. one that doesn't burn, but one that reminds him that he's... alive. and oh, how he does not wish to be. amongst the weight of the trauma he's endured, rueben gets to add the reality of dragging himself out of his grave. a grave that someone had dug up. and the rage mixed with the almost paralysing panic is what drives him forward, prepared to lash at whomever had done this. until he sees @soothsayher.

and the wind is knocked out of him. it had been... decades in the pit. being torn limb from limb, enduring torture only for his own willpower to falter; and he began to inflict the same pain upon others. she had almost vanished from his mind, almost. he was prepared to shout, to berate whomever had clearly made a deal for his own life to be returned to him. he wanted them to know that he never wanted this. but it all falls short at the sight of her, at the emotion in her face; the reality of her. "odessa?"

It spurs him on, the sound of Odessa's voice. It's so rarely heard, and never as it resonates right now, that the quiet moan that escapes him is entirely involuntary, his hips picking up the pace. The wall crumples slightly beside her head, result from his clenched hand. ❛ You sure you can take that, sweetheart? ❜ he murmurs in her ear, head close enough to touch it with his lips; voice raking deep, throaty.
