The first time Sopdet, the radiant Star of the Night, saw the wandering soul of Osiris lost on his way to the Duat, she fell in love almost instantly. She took pity on the poor god, whose body and the nine parts of his soul were only just being reassembled.

Before that moment, Sopdet drifted aimlessly across the sky. But from the day she met him, she chose to become the Guide of the Night, shining brightly to help countless souls find their way to her beloved Osiris—just as she had done for him at the very beginning.

Her gentle nature and luminous presence made her the warmest guide in the darkness, eventually placing her at the head of the wandering barques of the other star gods across the celestial vault.

Sopdet is an Egyptian goddess associated with the star Sirius, believed to be connected with the inundation of the Nile and the beginning of the new year. She is also a fertility goddess, appropriate for her link with the Nile flood. Sopdet is depicted here with a five-pointed star upon her head. She may also be shown with that same star on top of the white crown of Upper Egypt (the headdress worn by Satis). In later years she could be depicted in the form of a dog, due to Sirius' Greek connection with the dog.

Bright-shining Sopdet, lady of the night sky, lady of the faithful flood, I praise and honor you.

Anupet-Sopdet

The second of three gods I was given for this year, Sopdet is actually often connected with Anubis via Aset/Isis… Who shares functions with Anupet as the weeping widow! Thus, Anupet-Sopdet (while I’m unsure if She is historically attested) is a potentially realistic sync!
