like sometimes i will read a book and im like yeah okay this is fine and then i remember the soul shattering depth of character that is camille preaker sharp objects or the captivating arc of jaime lannister asoiaf or the immersive writing in the kingkiller chronicles or the visceral emotions that reading lolita evoke and i look at the bland tasteless shallow characters in the cardboard cutout story before me and i want to vomit and i look at it on goodreads and it has 4.5 stars and i despair utterly and severely and its not even that im judging the people who like the books necessarily because i like my share of bad books too its just that well i wish things were different please take my hand please read something other than the fantasy story with the assassin woman whos perfect and in love with a blonde man and a brunette man at the same time and who will she choose and she also has to save the world life is so hard for her because shes beautiful and strong and [checks notes] snarky
