I actually found "Polish Girl" while ago, but I only listened to the first like 10 or 20 seconds of it. Today, I re-found it and now I'm confused as to why I didn't just keep on listening the first time I heard it. Maybe it's because I usually don't listen to more electronic music (because "Polish Girl" is pretty electronic). But that's besides the point because I think I just found my favorite electronic song (even though this might be the first one I've listened to. ._. aha).
Oh, and I just did some research, Neon Indian's songs are classified as chillwave, synthpop, and indietronica. So it's not electronic...even though it is. Apparantly, there are subgenres in that category.
Anyway. Alan Palomo, born in Mexico and went to university in Texas, is the main singer for Neon Indian. In his high school years, he had already been writing and performing songs for his Ghosthustler and VEGA projects (though none of them have been released yet). Palomo's dad was a Mexican pop star in the 70's and 80's and Palomo Jr. samples some of his dad's music in his. Palomo's ex-girlfriend came up with the name 'Neon Indian' after Palomo gave her a song apologizing for missing an acid date. In October 2009, Neon Indian released Psychic Chasms. Then in September 2011, Era Extraña was released.
The more I listened to "Polish Girl", the more I liked Neon Indian's style. So I listened to some of his other songs from hisPsychic Chasmsalbum. But, I didn't really like those that much. They were a little too trippy, too psychodelic sounding for my liking. I just didn't really like them... I dunno how else to explain it.
But "Polish Girl" is fine. Palomo's voice isn't too distorted and the music isn't too wavy sounding. I listened to some more of Era Extraña and the other songs sound kind of similar. So maybe, if I listen to the album more, I can like Neon Indian more. But, for now, I'll just stick with "Polish Girl".
