Through his crash the water from the neighboring sea flooded the crater and the plains became an oasis.
Around 100 years later, the prince Dalinar Kohlin II was born. Briefly, before his 13th birthday, Dalinar started to dream from a being in Shardplate and Retribution started to haunting him.
He wanted thats the young prince searched for Nightfury and to free him. Because, unknown for Dalinar for a long time, he was Daimans reincarnation. And hed also the power to break the seal which his past self created.
As Dalinar was completely confused, because the Being warned this not to do. He also asked his mentor Kaladin for advice what he should do. Kaladin, one of the Heralds, was on the side of the Being, because he was also present at Retributions sealing.
He was also aware that Dalinar was Daiman reborn. Hed know this because Dalinar played a special song on his flute which only Daiman know: the Song of Sorrow or Song of Orpheus.
To locating Nightfury, their needed the help of a Soulcaster. Crown princess Jasnah Kohlin II, Dalinars older sister, was a powerful Soulcaster, almost as strong like her namesake and former queen. In Shadesmar, Jasnah felt its location in direction of the young sea, which were the Shattered Plains once.
But their parents forbid the expedition, despite Kaladins protection. Kaladin countered with the point if their didnt search for the blade another will find and unseal Retribution. The Royal couple agreed under the condition thats Dalinar got properly trained with Bridge Four for the journey. And their send guards and spies to said sea, which was now called Daimvalor, to prevent potential finders to free the evil Shard.
7 years later, Dalinar was now 20 and ready for the mission. His resemblance to his former self was now much more present, as Kaladin noted. But his fiancee and childhood friend Maelle wanted to go with them. She was a skilled Lightweaver and strong enough to aid the group.
As their met the sun queen, shed telling the story of her and Kanns relationship and the ancient war. In her palace, she prepared the ingredients for the counter spell, but she couldn't find the last one. Darius ripped the moonstone from his chest and gave it to the queen, who used it for the spell.
