Great to see you back! Can I request a headcanon about Okita's alcohol related habits? It's left pretty vague in the story, and I have my own ideas but always love hearing yours!
Hey there!! Nice to see you again, too!
Given that both Hakuōki and historical Okita are known to be… not super big on the whole alcohol thing, I estimate that he first approached drinking with a cynical/skeptical mindset, got drunk exactly once just to see what it was like, ended up blacking out, and decided he didn’t like it upon hearing what happened from the others the next morning. It’s not that his tolerance is low or that he can’t drink at all, so much as he never drinks to get drunk.
Basically, Okita likes being in control of himself and his actions and image too much to enjoy that kind of surrender, so tipsiness doesn’t actually help him relax the way it does for the others. He’ll drink sake to be polite or match the others, but knows his limits, and doesn’t see the need to exceed them for a lot of reasons—he doesn’t like feeling sick or losing control; sake costs money; his sweet tooth gets in the way of his enjoyment of bitter things, etc. (He’ll never admit the last one, though.)
For the recent ask meme: Okita Souji of Hakuouki Thanks :D
thanks!!
How I feel about this character:
his dedicationnnnnn. i love how driven and loyal he is
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:
saito
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:
i love love lOVEEE kat-chan being a mentor/father-like figure to him
My unpopular opinion about this character:
it’s not worth mentioning tbh. so many people love him very much and i absolutely respect that. i don’t want to be negative <3
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
LET THE MAN LIVE
Favorite friendship for this character:
i ship him romantically and platonically with saito for sure. i think their rivalry is compelling and i love how much they respect and challenge each other. GOOD
Rate the Ship: Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? So long as they both shall live. You really think either of them could let the other go at this point?
How quickly did/will they fall in love? Gradually, and then all at once. They both took a long time to figure out how they felt about one another, and a little while after that to get their shit together enough to act on that.
How was their first kiss? We saw it in canon and it was wonderful. (If a little sad…)
Wedding:
Who proposed? Souji, and we saw that too. It’s one of my favorite OkiChi scenes.
Who are the best man and groomsmen? Not applicable, but they were sure the rest of the Shinsengumi were there in spirit. Most particularly Kondou, smiling on their union.
Who are the maid of honor and bridesmaids? Not applicable, but I like to think Sen visited them some time later and retroactively took that position.
Who did the most planning? No planning required for what amounts to a flower crown, some sake, and sex.
Who stressed the most? Chizuru had a few more jitters, but she got over ’em pretty quick once she was in Souji’s arms.
How fancy was the ceremony? Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? Everyone, unfortunately. Given that most of their friends are dead and they were on the losing side of the war, it was a private ceremony out of necessity.
Sex:
Who is on top? Souji. He isn’t one to be dominated, and Chizuru is perfectly happy to be submissive. This only gets reversed once she’s more confident and he’s more secure.
Who is the one to instigate things? Souji, more often than not.
How healthy is their sex life? Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once or twice a week, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head
How long do they normally last? Not very long, but long enough for both of them to be satisfied. Souji doesn’t like drawing out sex too long and in fact is rather fond of multiple short rounds per day rather than marathon sessions.
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? Usually, but sometimes they’re more generous than that.
How rough are they in bed? Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? My bet’s on just one.
How many children will they adopt? None.
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? Chizuru, but it’s work she’s happy to do for the sake of bonding with her child.
Who is the stricter parent? Both of them are pretty relaxed, but each of them have their moments when certain lines get crossed.
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? Chizuru, because Souji is usually participating. In fact, Souji is usually one-upping them.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? Chizuru, though their child is homeschooled, so that’s not usually necessary unless they’ll be going into town for some reason.
Who is the more loved parent? They’re equally loved, but Chizuru is better at acting like a parent, so she probably wins by a small margin.
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Chizuru, if those existed in this setting.
Who cried the most at graduation? Chizuru, if that was a thing.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? Both of them, but with different methods. Chizuru would be more likely to succeed because Souji is more likely to try using force or coercion.
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? Chizuru, definitely.
Who is the most picky in their food choice? Souji for sure. No green onions!
Who does the grocery shopping? Chizuru, since she’s less readily recognizable as a wanted criminal.
How often do they bake desserts? Every now and then. It’s not exactly a ‘special occasion’ thing, but they enjoy sweets more if they eat them sparingly.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? Chizuru ensures that they eat a balanced diet, mostly to preserve Souji’s health.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? Souji, while Chizuru is out in town one time. Too bad he’s a terrible cook, but it really is the thought that counts here.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? Souji, because he craves being able to live some semblance of an ordinary life instead of hiding out at home all the time.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? Souji.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? Chizuru.
Who is really against chores? SOUJI.
Who cleans up after the pets? Chizuru, but she doesn’t have to do much since their cats are all outdoor strays.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? Souji.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? They never have guests, but given their circumstances, I’m pretty sure both of them would be stressed if anyone found them. Chizuru more so, most likely.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? Souji, if they had a couch.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? They bathe together to conserve water and stay in the water almost till it’s cold.
Who takes the dog out for a walk? Ain’t no dogs in this household. Just a lot of stray cats, with whom Souji thoroughly enjoys playing.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? They don’t, really. They celebrate quietly, but not to the extent that they decorate, since there’s no one to appreciate it other than themselves.
What are their goals for the relationship? Survive, and remind one another that they are loved and supported, and so it shall always be.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? Souji. He sleeps a lot.
WELCOME TO HELL, I’M ALLEY, YOUR TOUR GUIDE, AND TODAY I’LL BE PUTTING KAZASEN IN THE CONTEXT OF NATURE/NURTURE SINCE IT’S A READY-MADE SCENARIO
General:
Rate the Ship: Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? Longer than anyone thinks, mostly on account of their mutual stubbornness. All contentious emotions aside, for the sake of their people and all of demonkind, they can and will stay together indefinitely. Don’t test them. (They’re doing that on their own already.)
How quickly did/will they fall in love? Do they think of one another as physically attractive? Of course; they do have eyes. Do they respect one another? By now, yes they do. Do they understand one another? No, but they’re both making a conscious effort at this point. Okay, so that means they’re at least learning to love each other even if they’re not there yet, right? Absolutely not!! How dare you imply such a thing!!
How was their first kiss? Surprisingly soft, but immediately followed by another, different, more intense first. Figures.
Wedding:
Who proposed? Kazama, for the good of both their people… after rejecting Sen’s own proposition to bear him a child out of wedlock. In light of her less-than-favorable circumstances and Kazama’s generosity, Sen had little choice but to accept.
Who are the best man and groomsmen? Not applicable given the style, but Amagiri was in prominent attendance.
Who are the maid of honor and bridesmaids? Not applicable given the style, but Kimigiku was in prominent attendance.
Who did the most planning? Sen and her people, because Kazama and his family didn’t want anything to do with a wedding. The ceremony was held in Yase as a result.
Who stressed the most? Definitely Sen. This wasn’t her idea, and she was incredibly wary of Kazama’s possible ulterior motives, to say nothing of his personality as a whole.
How fancy was the ceremony? Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? Kazama in particular would have liked to exclude Shiranui, but they couldn’t afford to give offense. He didn’t show up anyway, so it was all good.
Sex:
Who is on top? Initially Sen, much to Kazama’s indignation and fury, until she trusts him enough to let him have a turn. It is currently much more equal.
Who is the one to instigate things? Usually Kazama.
Not too long, but more because they don’t see a reason to prolong such interactions if they are both satisfied. Their frequency makes up for it, anyway.
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? Absolutely. Even in the very beginning, Kazama is sure never to leave Sen unfulfilled, to her utter astonishment.
Two.
How many children will they adopt? None.
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? Sen, but she makes Kazama pitch in now and again, ignoring his complaints about how he isn’t a nurse. There’s no way she’s taking care of everything all by herself, and no princess of Yase delegates raising her successor to a nursemaid.
Who is the stricter parent? Kazama, but Sen makes sure to balance him out as much as she can.
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? Both of them, but Sen is more concerned about the child’s well-being, and Kazama is more concerned about how those actions reflect on their reputation and character.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? Sen, though she is not the one to make them.
Who is the more loved parent? Sen. Kazama doesn’t have the first idea how to express familial love, so he comes across as somewhat distant despite his best efforts. (But make no mistake, he is making an effort.)
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Kazama, if they existed in this setting. And no one would dare dismiss him if he brought up a complaint.
Who cried the most at graduation? Sen, if that was a thing, but Kazama got a little teary-eyed himself.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? Both of them, but Kazama would be the one to act on it. No human law can keep him from his children.
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? Neither of them; that’s what servants are for. Sen would be more willing to try.
Who is the most picky in their food choice? Sen, actually, but she knows better than to complain about anything she doesn’t like. It is unbecoming of a demon.
Who does the grocery shopping? Servants. Sen would be more willing to try, though she wouldn’t know what to look for or how to find it.
How often do they bake desserts? They are not responsible for making them, but they have desserts every now and then. Sen has something of a sweet tooth, which she does not like to admit.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? Their cooks ensure that their meals are befitting of their status as proud demons, so they both have a pretty balanced diet.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? Kazama is more likely to have one made. If he tried it himself, the results would likely be disastrous.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? Sen. She is used to going out in Kyoto and actually likes associating with humans, if only tangentially. Kazama absolutely hates things like that, but he might soften eventually if she gives him enough incentive.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? Kazama, if he ever tried it. Good riddance, he’d say.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? Servants. Sen would be more willing to try.
Who is really against chores? Both of them, though in Sen’s case, this is more because her servants are employed for that reason than out of a sense of entitlement. The same cannot be said for Kazama.
Who cleans up after the pets? They don’t keep pets.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? Kazama. As far as he’s concerned, the servants can get it later.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? Both of them are concerned with reputation and appearance, though Sen is typically the more flustered since they are staying in her village.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? Sen. She left it as a tip for the servant whose job she did.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? Kazama. They relax him, which is something he could stand to do a little more of, and he loses track of time while thinking.
Who takes the dog out for a walk? They don’t have one. There are some stray cats in Yase, though, and Kazama likes hanging out with them more than he cares to admit.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? Always, but only subtly; most holidays are human in origin and have no prominent place in demon culture, even in Yase. And it’s mostly the servants who do the work, in any case.
What are their goals for the relationship? Produce a child, but not before learning to live with each other and get along, as per Shiranui and Amagiri’s unsolicited advice.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? Kazama. Noon is rare, but of the two of them, he sleeps more, and usually later.
Who plays the most pranks? Neither of them, but Sen has more of a sense of humor, so she is more likely to be facetious. Whether Kazama gets her half-jokes on the first bounce is open to interpretation.

Rules: We’re snooping through your playlist. Put your entire music library on shuffle and list the first ten songs, then tag ten people!
This isn’t going to be a representative sample of the music I have and will tell you next to nothing about me, so I’m gonna shuffle my ‘best of’ playlist instead. It contains 1200 songs, so I don’t really consider that cheating.
“We Can Make the World Stop” [The Glitch Mob]
“Curtain of Beads” [Lu Xiao Er]
“The Essence of an Adventure is Exploration” [Tales of Zestiria]
“Petals in the Wind (Sanada)” [Samurai Warriors 4]
“Druidic Dreams” [Adrian von Ziegler]
“Search a Seal” [Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World]
“Melancholic Memories” [Tales of Xillia]
“Dance in the Dark” [Fire Emblem: Fates]
“Will and Elizabeth” [PotC: The Curse of the Black Pearl]
“Turn Loose the Mermaids (Instrumental)” [Nightwish]
…As it turns out, I have no objections. I’m going to let this die with me, but if you want to do this, please do it and pretend I tagged you. Yes, you, reading this post!
BrOTP: Saito! They complement one another so well.
NOTP: HijiOki. A bit ironic, considering who’s asking, but…
Favorite thing: For some reason ‘favorite thing’ translated into ‘favorite scene’ and I immediately thought of that Reimeiroku scene where he threw the knife at Ryunosuke and then cornered him on the bridge. That really does encapsulate my love of his unapologetically gray morals, though, so I’ll take it.
Least favorite thing: How long it takes for him to warm up to Chizuru. Like, he’s still openly hostile to her at several points after the routes split. You’d think he’d learn to at least trust her by then…
Seeing darker requests so far, how about Enamor Me for established OkiChi? I want to see him woo his sweet little wife~ (I need some het ship that isn't IbaChi really much now :'3 Also, can I reblog the prompt list? Maybe I get a few requests, I really want to write but don't have the time and inspiration to sit down to it just casually)
Note: The prompt list isn’t mine. Reblog whatever you want!
In retrospect, sake may not have been the best idea.
Chizuru only brought it home so they could at least drink from the same cup at their wedding ceremony, even if there was no one to oversee it. But, in the interests of keeping up his health, Souji could only have the one sip that symbolized their union.
You can drink my share, he said, sounding a little wistful. And Chizuru did so, obeying an impulse she couldn’t name. Souji looked a little surprised as she drained the rest of their shared cup… but then he smiled, and said: this should be fun.
After that, the night was something of a blur. All Chizuru remembers is the feeling of being so full of love she was ready to burst. And why shouldn’t Souji know exactly how great he was? She’d have climbed up on the roof and shouted her admiration to the moon if Souji let her.
And his lips never tasted so sweet. Maybe it was just the burning bitterness of the sake, but Chizuru felt that she had to kiss him almost as often as he drew breath. Then maybe he’d understand how dear he was to her, as necessary as the air all around them.
The last thing she remembers is one more string of kisses, horizontal now, his persistent interruptions of her plea to take off her clothes. The world feels so hot and fuzzy, and she’s never been more ready to give him everything she has. How could he be so heartless as to refuse her? (Is she that undesirable…?)
And after that—nothing.
All these memories manifest in Chizuru’s mind only slowly, throbbing painfully with her sluggish heartbeat. With the restoration of her rational mind, she’s never been so glad that Souji insisted she drink so much water.
It’s been some time since her fury blood has acted up, but the sunlight hurts again, and her body feels heavier than usual. Letting out a faint moan, Chizuru buries her face in Souji’s chest. Like her, he’s still wearing his clothes from yesterday; she must have passed out on him, so that he couldn’t get up and change.
Souji rests his hand on her back, thankfully not applying too much pressure, and Chizuru jumps. How long has he lain awake, half under her, permitting her to doze beside him…? “Good morning, Chizuru,” he says quietly, his tone one of gentle amusement. “What were you thinking?”
Chizuru swallows dryly. “I just wanted to do something nice for you,” she mumbles, once her tongue works. “To… have a real wedding. To go with your flower crown.”
“You really didn’t have to try that hard,” laughs Souji, gathering Chizuru closer, and presses a kiss to the top of her head. “You’re nice enough on your own, you know.” How can he say such a thing? In trying to prove to Souji how much he meant to her, she made it impossible for them to consummate their union.
“But… I ruined our wedding night,” protests Chizuru feebly.
She can hear Souji’s smile, the sound of his lips parting to expose teeth. “What’s so special about a wedding night?” he chuckles, weaving his fingers in her hair. “Now that we’re married, we have all the time in the world.” Blearily incredulous, Chizuru tilts her head back to look up at Souji, taking in his grin. “And that means I can take my revenge whenever I want.”
Okita Souji for the ask meme please (Wanted to ask about Iba, for he's constantly making me angrier at him, but I'm still only halfway through his route)
…Not that I’m glad to hear that you’re angry, but… I’m still kinda happy to hear that you feel the same way I do. If ever you want to rant about our dearest Iba-hime once you power through the rest of it, I’m here for ya.
But! In the meantime! Okita!
The moment I loved him most: This is gonna sound weird, but I adore that one scene in the Reimeiroku anime where he pushed Ryunosuke off the bridge. I think it’s the way he threw the knife.
The moment I hated him most: Not sure I can point out a specific moment, but there were a few times relatively far along his route (or along his decision trees pre-split) where he pushed Chizuru further away, or otherwise put her down when she was just trying to help. Like, I’ve never hated him, but his treatment of Chizuru in certain situations makes me indignant on her behalf.
The moment I understood him most: Honestly? Throughout HakuMyu Okita-hen. Specifically, “Shinsengumi no Ken” and his conversation with Hijikata—whether my life is long or short, there is only so much I can do. It clarified the complexities of his motivation and thought process, which the game doesn’t necessarily elaborate upon.
