I keep forgetting to post this. Have some AU Sou(L)koku lore!
Its based on the concept of Twin Flame Souls after seeing the DA interview. Dazai & Chuuya are linked through this concept. They are one soul. They feel each other's emotions, insecurities, they have each other's bad habits, share their imbalance. They get all the good with the bad and need to work through it. It can be hard but it is also personal growth.
In this AU, Souls that are bound through Twin Flames usually meet later in life, if at all, when they are more mentally mature. However in this AU they are 6~7 and meet in an orphanage run by Ango and Oda. Instantly they connect, becoming inseparable. They fuss if they can't be near the other as if being separated even a few feet causes distress.
Because they are so young they aren't prepared to handle a tragic event that happens the evening their strings of fate are about to fully intertwine.
The trauma causes Dazai to lose his emotions which means he no longer cares about Chuuya. Chuuya, being an emotional, needy child, can't handle this and runs away, later found by Verlaine and Rimbaud.
Years later they will meet up and the healing will begin as they work on mending their broken souls. It's rocky at first, both of them not sure how to act around the other, especially with Dazai having issues with being touched and Chuuya quick to take things to heart.
There's a lot more in terms of lore regarding how their abilities work, but essentially what they can do is tied to their soul, and if not cared for they can take on a more monstrous, corrupted form.
This is still very very early in the planning phase, enjoy the edgy doodles. Chuuya is a melee fighter so he'll have physical changes, Dazai will have something like an avatar similar to Elise, effectively extending his range. There are obvious repercussions.
There is a plot! Well, goals I suppose. Ya'll remember Lovecraft? Essentially there will be more strange beings like that in which Chuuya and Dazai have to investigate. So the plan is to add in some authors known for terror, suspense, and horror elements.
I'm planning to post more AU doodles in the future, along with the usual art, but I wanted to finish this write up :)
