Reasonably offensive gems from the mind of my Aspects of Civilization teacher, who is one of the many characters I've met during my time in Russia:

"The worst part of the Chernobyl incident wasn't the radiation, it was the stress it caused. Lots of people had heartattacks."

"The Gulag wasn't THAT bad. It was like a camp." 

"Africa never invented anything. Can we still call it a civilization? Some people say yes."

"Russian political corruption is just a stereotype."
