The Second World War (1939 – 1945) was the most devastating and dreadful in the history of humanity. As the German troops and its allies advances in the western and eastern fronts of Europe as well as in Africa , the Middle East and Asia, thousands of lives were lost and the damaged to property was almost incalculable. Perhaps fifty million people died, both soldiers and civilians (Perry 713).In the early days and months of the war, it seems that the Allied forces was in the losing end of the battle as European nations were invaded and occupied by the German Nazi forces.
