Part 56: out of the frying pan...
More here: @aliens-and-shiz
Kea ran. Twigs snapping, leaves brushing past her as she ran, wildlife of the alien world not even noticing her existence. She’s new, and this place has very few threats. And she didn’t smell like them.
She cleared a boulder, slipping on the gravel at the top, nearly falling into a ravine that appeared in front of her. She looked behind her, seeing a tiny flash of red far in the distance. Chasing her.
She didn’t know how she got here, she doesn’t know why. All she knew is they took her from her home, and made her do their dirty work. And... and... other, far more horrific things.
She looked down into the ravine, and jumped.
She landed hard, right into a small creek, right on the only rock in the sandbar, rolling her ankle, spraining it at least. She yelped with pain, and rolled.
‘Fuck fuck fuck. Now I can’t run. I gotta hide. Hide. Yes.’
When her eyes focused back up, she saw it. A crack in an old fallen tree. Just big enough for her to squeeze her malnourished body in, and deep enough to not cast a shadow.
She got on her hands and knees, babying her ankle, keeping it above the ground, and scurried over to the tree, sliding into the seam in the wood, giving her best attempt at survival.
Then. Quiet. Just, quiet, with a rustle and a hoot and a growl here and there. Then, moments later, the sounds of nature slowly began increasing volume, the timid creatures attempting communion with each other once again.
Kea waited, breathing shallow, shallow breaths. Then it began.
The red beasts slammed on the creek bed in front of her, right on top of her trail, ruining it. She held her hands to her mouth, not letting the scream out, holding it in.
“Shk lio vss reaak!”
“Shsvl iker driiva.”
They began pacing, examining the area. Then. Just as suddenly as it began, silence crashed around them.
This time, every single sound dropped. Only the babbling brook and the rustling of the Azkrani made any noise. They’re antenna perked up.
“Ghre?” What? One of the few words of their toungue she learned.
“Rehg.” Hold.
The guards stood still, listening, looking.
Terror grew within Kea’s breast. A silent forest is never a good sign. Kea knew this all too well. She grew up in the wilderness until... the last time a forest grew this quiet.
Her heart beat through her head. Bumbumbumbumbumbumbum.
The closest guard took a step. His foot touched the sand, and the reason for the quiet became all too painfully clear.
Faster than she could process, the two creatures were yanked into the sky, screaming death omens as they flew. Then, silence yet again. She sat there, silently, terrified, listening. Absolute silence.
Then, the head of the leader guard crashed to the ground, mouth torn in two, eyes popped out of its skull, simply staring lifelessly at Kea. She let out a small involuntary scream.
Oh no. No. Please god if you exist please god no.
Silence.
Then, her log was taken, and thrown across the ravine, taking her with it. It hit the wall and began rolling down, hurling her out of it, sending her careening down the side.
At the base, she stopped rolling, head spinning, eyes out of focus.
A figure came and kneeled down in front of her, coming into her view.
No. Not... not him... not again...
As her world began going dark, the face of the man who destroyed her life haunted her. Both waking and asleep. The nameless one.
Before she passed into the space between life and death, she heard but a whisper.
“The name is Hades now, Kea Junis. We’re gonna have some fun soon.”

Last of Her Name Excerpt
Sixteen years ago, rebellion swept the galaxy known as the Belt of Jewels.
Every member of the Leonov royal family was murdered--down to their youngest child, Princess Anya--making way for the Union government to seize power.
But Stacia doesn't think much about politics. She spends her days half-wild, rambling her father's vineyard with her friends, Clio and Pol. That all changes when a Union ship appears burning through the sky, bearing the leader of the Union, the Direktor Eminent himself, who declares that Stacia's sleepy village is a den of empire loyalists.
Even more shocking, the Direktor claims that Princess Anya Leonova is alive--and Stacia is the lost princess.
As their home explodes into chaos, Pol smuggles Stacia to a hidden escape ship, leaving Clio in the hands of the Union. With everything she knows threading away into the stars, Stacia sets her heart on a single mission: She will find and rescue Clio, even with the whole galaxy on her trail.

In 1966 and 1967 NASA, to prepare for the Apollo moon landings, launched five spacecraft designed to take detailed images and map the surface of the Moon, our nearest celestial neighbor. From the first view of the Earth from the Moon, to what Life magazine pronounced as the image of the century –...
Hello everyone,
Something really exciting is happening at my work right now! We have begun crowdfunding for a book we are making based on the original Lunar Orbiter Images.
We have worked the past few years to recover and re-release the original Orbiter images taken in the ‘60′s. And now that all of the images have been recovered and refurbished we are releasing a coffee table art book with high quality closeup images of the moon!
This entire project right now is crowd funding based so if you cannot donate please share this post to help us get the word out about this book!
Thank you so much guys c:
Part 51: hearing
Parts 1-50
Senator Jhendo Kkli took the stage among the Aristarchi Senate, an honor bestowed upon only the greatest of their race.
His hue showed his apprehension, which was to be expected, and was not judged on by the rest of those present.
He tapped one of his hands nervously upon a podium before him. This is not good news. They should have been informed long before.
He shook himself, ridding him of his nerves, and held a hand up, purposely changing hue on it to white, silencing the crowd before him.
Here we go.
“My fellow Senators. I come bearing concerning news. Earlier this cycle, I was informed by the Drem that a certain Engineer Hgdre had taken residence on Sol.”
Colors of confusion flew through the crowd. Then, realization. Hgdre. The one who brought that... thing. Hatred.
He shot his hand back up, white as snow, and a hush fell back over them.
“Yes. I understand. He is singlehandedly responsible for hundreds of deaths thanks to his little... experiment. But, we need to put that aside for now. He would not have reached out to us if it was not of importance.”
He turned, grabbing a remote. He pressed a button as he did so, activating a screen which displayed a rather large solar system. 8 planets around a G2V main-sequence star. A miracle really.
He pressed another button, and the display began zooming in.
“The planet he chose is called Earth, which means, well dirt. A very strange happening, as the surface is mostly covered in water.”
The screen stopped zooming, focused on a blue and white marble. Cyclones dotted it, signs of civilization-altering storms. Fear creapt through the senator as he spoke, finally realizing the true implications of a species such as this.
His voice cracked, well the Aristarchi equivalent of it.
“The planet is... a class 10. An absolute deathworld for our species.”
He paused, not turning around. Silence.
“Th- the dominant species is only a class-4.”
A sigh of relief went through the crowd. A species that’s only class-4, dominating the planet.
Kkli turned.
“I do not know why you’re relieved.”
He pressed another button. He kept pressing with each point, bringing up slide after slide.
“They are a class-4 species that has completely dominated a class-10 deathworld. The planet has storms that would flatten our cities, and theirs stand strong. They have pushed back predators of class-7 and higher to their unpopulated regions, and keep class-5 predators as pets. Their culture is far more complex than any seen. They war among themselves.”
Silence. A fearful silence.
“And Engineer Hgdre chose not only to live among them in hiding, knowing the consequences of reaching out, and did so anyway.”
He pressed a final button, displaying the message.
“Attn. Senator Kkli. Humanity has achieved FTL. Without proper assistance. Assimilation Plan 109-XF was the only applicable means. Failure. The Az’krahni have attacked their home planet. Do not interfere with their war on Az’krah. Do not attack Earth. Cooperation with the species is the only way you will survive. Do not reply.”
Silence.
Kkli turned, and asked a single question.
“My fellow senators, I have but one question. What do we do?”
Fearful, confused silence.
Then, they felt it. A vibration.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Dust fell from the ceiling with each boom.
Oh. Xe is coming. I better sit down.
The senator scurried off the stage, running to hide among the crowd, each of whom slowly creeping to the rear of the amphitheater.
Doors that had not been opened in centuries flew open with a final boom, extinguishing every light.
Then. The dreadful sound. Thousands and thousands of feet, tapping along the stage. Then the walls, ceiling, wrapping around and around the room, forcing every individual to the center out of fear.
“Tsk tsk tsk”
The sound seemed to have come from nowhere, terrifying all.
“I am disappointed senators. Very disappointed.” The voice boomed. “Tell me, why am I here?”
Senator Kkli was pushed out of the group. He was the last to speak, he’s the one who called this session, he gets to answer the Arist.
“Uh- uh- uh Xir...” he whimpered, “is it about Hgdre? Or humanity?”
The voice boomed. “Both you imbeciles. They should never have been let off their home planet. It should have been demolished centuries ago. They’ve made it to the Luyten system.”
Confusion arose.
The slithering began again. Frustration arose from the being. “It was under a Quarantine Protocol, and the creature under quarantine was able to halt it.”
The senators paused. And ran.
“STOP”
Frozen.
“Call the entire empire. Anything that can fight will fight. We will destroy them. We will destroy the Az’krah. AND IF YOU FAIL YOU WILL BE EATEN”
