Highlights from my first real international conference trip
I am very late posting this, but I didn't want to NOT post about it!
I went to Benidorm, Spain to present a paper at a conference and it was kind of a surreal experience.
First, the sky was exceptionally clear during my flight so I ended up with a ridiculous amount of photos (but I'm only gonna put two XD)
Benidorm is a very peculiar place, a kind of seaside resort town which has so. many. skyscrapers. Sadly I didn't have much free time to explore properly, but here are some pictures from the bus.
I swear they are much taller than they look like, it's insane but also kinda cool (lots of different designs).
Of course there's also an older part of the city that looks a lot more "normal"
And the beach!!!
The conference had an insane venue, a full-on resort (that somehow managed to not have enough rooms for all the conference participants? But I actually preferred staying inside the city, even if it meant waking up earlier).
The conference spaces were not as luxurious though XD
After the conference, I spent one day in Alicante (well, one night and half a day really), which was alright with some really nice spots.
It was very intense but also very fun. AND I went just before the heatwave, so I actually enjoyed being outside XD
The flight back also offered incredible views, but this time I'm gonna focus on the insanity of Benidorm's buildings because you can see the difference FROM THE PLANE.
This is Alicante, normal city, bigger city actually:
And this is Benidorm:
Can you see how many giant buildings are there? There were no other cities like it on the entire coast!
