@sparkofstorm replied to your post: i made apple cider the other day and it...
YO GIVE ME THE POTION MIX
Basically i followed this recipe: [x] but with some minor changes, since i didnt have some of the things it called for (didnt have cranberries, i added allspice, didnt have raw star anise, less honey, only had one orange at home, etc.).
6 cups apple juice (i used martinellis raw apple juice)
1 orange, cut into slices
1 apple, unpeeled, quartered
1/2 tsp whole cloves, ground finely
4-5 kernels of whole allspice, ground finely
Pour the juice and honey into a pot and warm on medium heat, steep the tea for 3-5 mins, then throw everything else in and turn the heat down to low. Simmer for 30 mins, covered. Strain using a mesh strainer, double strain using a fine mesh sieve.
I would recommend using a big stock pot for this since it bubbled up a lot; it wouldve bubbled over if i wasnt using a such a large vessel.
The nice thing about using the martinellis AJ is that you can just pour the entire bottle in (its about 6 cups), then when you’re done, you can pour the newly cider-ified juice right back into the glass bottle!
