Found in a spotty range across central, eastern, and southeastern Africa, these weavers inhabit savannas, wetlands, shrublands, and the edges of forests. Foraging in pairs or family groups, they feed on insects, other invertebrates, small lizards, berries, flowers, and nectar. Monogamous pairs regularly reuse the same nest site for multiple years, often locating a new nest near one from a previous season. Males usually build the hanging woven nests with tube-shaped entrances, while females often add the lining and sometimes participate in construction. Both parents incubate the eggs and feed the chicks, though only females brood them for the first few days while males gather food.
