in that article Jenny Han says the goal for the movie is that if you didn’t watch the show you would like the movie and if you watched the show you would you also like the movie. What do you think that means in terms of the plot of the movie
I guess it means that Jenny intends to write it such that audiences of the movie won’t need to have watched the show to be able to pick up on who the characters are and what they’re dealing with. I assume Jenny will want to avoid being overly expository, so the plot of the movie will be divorced enough from the plot of the show that the characters won’t have to awkwardly explain backstory for the sake of new audiences.
I have a limited imagination, and I really don’t want to get in my head about the possibilities anyway, so my only guess about the broad premise is that it might be centered around Belly and Conrad’s wedding. So, it might be like Father of the Bride or The Wedding Banquet.
I could be way off though. I usually am. So please don’t take my word for it and maybe don’t ask me any more questions about the movie. I will be wrong, and I don’t like being wrong.
That being said, I hope this helps. Thanks for the ask! 🙏💜
