I really like them and love to read them. But they are short, so there isn’t much I could write a review about <.< But Id love to read more of them! ❤️
True they are short XD. Mostly with the drabble series, esp on AO3 I’ve seen like so many people like it in the form of the sheer amount of Kudos it’s gained but like not too much inthe way of reviews I guess with KYKM being my only basis for comparison so I’m over here like...people like it?????I guess???idk for what reason but yay???are they in it for the plot? the seduction??? who knows

Oh my god! *faints*
I’m glad you both think so! I actually do feel really proud of this chapter. I think if I could read my own story from the pov of a reader, i’d have the same reaction ^^

"What are you doing?"
"I'm making you a drink, darling"
Oh great. Any conversation that required me to have hard liquor probably wasn't going to be a pleasant one. Shit. And I thought today was going to go so well...
Let me catch you up to speed. So far I have met the Prince of Lies and Trickery, gotten stalked by weirdos, tackled by weirdos, gotten my fries stolen, acquired a pet turtle, fallen down holes, seen dead bodies, and collected two out of four mysterious books that I still didn't know anything about. I also put my hand on Loki's knee a few times and had gotten away with it. Haha, my biggest accomplishment. Although, now that I think about it, I wasn't getting anywhere with my fanfiction story about him, so I guess that counts as a really big failure and cancels out the knee thing.
Shoot.
And now, after making a big announcement that I was going to have to help him KILL someone tonight, Loki was calmly in my kitchen, mixing cranberry juice and whisky (my favorite combo) for me, acting like nothing had just happened.
I sat down on my couch and watched him.
His face didn't betray any of his thoughts. You'd think that if you were contemplating murder, your features would look a little strained or something. But nope. He was cool as a cucumber. Why I expected anything less, I really don't know. Maybe if I flashed him he would show some emotion...
"Why are you lifting your shirt up?"
Letting go of my shirt, I chickened out. He handed me my drink, and I patted the spot on the couch next to me. Sit, my pretty, sit.
"Very well, but if you begin to touch my leg again, I'm moving to the other chair"
Geeeeezzzzzzz. I could NOT catch a break today.
Taking a sip of my tasty drink, I said "Fine. Story. Go. It's about frikken time you explained what the heck is going on"
Settling into the corner of the couch, Loki turned his body to face me, resting his arm over the top edge. His fingertips brushed my hair a little, and he was flicking a curly piece absentmindedly. I think he was just trying to figure out how to explain without losing control of my tragically short attention span.
"Well..." he began, slowly, "I have been in the dark just as much as you have for most of the past few months. Hence my silence on exactly why we were searching for these books, and whom it was keeping them from us."
Wow, he didn't even know the full story before? Dang. I felt really bad for pestering him now. It must have stressed him out.
"My previous knowledge was that there were four books brought here from my home world. I did not know who smuggled them out, or for what purpose."
"Did they all end up in this area? Not all over the world?" I asked
"All of them are here. Well, the two that remain for us to find. The other two I have hidden away for their safety and for yours."
"Do you know why they're here in Charlotte?"
"No"
"Do you know why they might come after me?"
"Yes"
"...well why then?"
He was looking at me very seriously. I'm not a serious person, so the intimate look was really making me uncomfortable. And it was taking him a long time to answer me. Triple level of uncomfortable.
"Someone might believe that you possess knowledge that you don't actually have. And that could be potentially dangerous, especially if those people decide to use methods of information extraction."
I sucked in air.
"I might get tortured for info I don't even HAVE?"
Jesus tapdancing christ. I was a freaking cupcake baker! Not a spy! I didn't even sign up for all this bullcrap. I should have felt scared, I know, but I was mostly just angry. I should at least be getting paid or something. Was it so hard to throw a Starbucks giftcard my way?
"Okay, so I might get tortured. That's great. So what else? How can it get worse?"
"It does get worse, darling"
"Of course it frikken does"
He was still touching my hair. It felt really good, but I was so far out of the mood I might as well be dead already.
"From what I can understand, if the four books are put in one place together, they can release a great amount of power. The party that removed them from my world must be aware of this, and is planning to use them here"
This was some supernaturally mess we had gotten into.
"Why didn't they just keep them where they came from and take over that place?"
"The power will be greater here."
Dammit Earth. Being all easily-taken over and crap.
"So this person-"
"Or persons"
"-right, or persons, took four books that unleash untold power and brought them here? And wants to make things suck for everyone?"
"Correct" he said, giving my curls a tweak.
"Okay. So problem solved. We have two of the books. If they can't put them all together, then we win! They lose, end of story"
"I'm afraid it is not that simple, Rachael. If the books aren't returned home and kept safe there, then there will always be a chance of them going missing again. We must get the remaining two books."
"Uhhhgggggg. Alright. I get it. Now tell me about this murder"
"Do you recall the first store we ever visited together?"
"Yeah. The one with the murdered owner with the southern accent."
"That is right. I have tracked down a young man who either killed the unfortunate man himself, or knows who did."
"Please tell me we aren't going to kill him, Loki. I can't. I can't do that kind of thing. I've been one hundred percent on board with everything up to this point. But I won't kill someone. I couldn't even if I wanted to! "
"Hopefully it won't have to come to that, darling. But we are going to see this young man. Tonight. Perhaps you can persuade him to tell us whom he is working for, because I do not believe he is the mastermind behind this nonsense."
"Why do I have to do the persuading?" I demanded. It was a little difficult to focus on being angry and adamant, because Loki had twined my hair around his fingers and was curling his palm around the side of my neck.
"Because you are sweet. Innocent. Warm and pleasant and amusing. An orb of sunshine lighting dark places. Most likely you can acquire information I cannot, simply by speaking to him"
I don't know what the hell was going on. I was stuck, immobilized by his obvious attempt at flattery. I think it was a combination of his amazing voice, or his citrus-y smell, or his hand on me. It must have been a combination of all that and more.
Did I mention I look super attractive with my mouth hanging open?
Apparently it didn't matter, because before I could figure out what to say,
Oh my goodness "The Loki Equation" is literally the best thing I have ever reaaaddd T_T I can't wait for more chapters to come out! The author is truly talented. If Mary didn't think I was insane, she definitely did after she walked in on me in the bathroom.
"Rachael....what the hell are you doing?"
"I'm giving Moose a bath. Look! She can blow bubbles!!"
I was in my bathing suit, sitting in my bathtub. Moose was paddling around in the warm water, happy as a clam. I was using an old toothbrush to scrub her shell, and she was chasing grape halves that were bobbing in the water.
"Uhhh.....I don't think those bubbles are good for her, dude" Mary said, giving me what she calls a "hairy eyeball" and what I call "bitch face".
"It's okay!" I said, "This stuff is safe for reptiles"
"Where the hell did you get soap that was turtle-safe?"
"Internet"
She looked like she probably wanted to tell me that this was the reason I didn't have a boyfriend. The inner struggle between being good friend and telling the truth was super obvious on her face. She choked down whatever sarcastic comment was on her tongue, thank goodness. I didn't want to fake cry in front of her.
Leaning in the doorway, she asked "Holly and I are going out to Boardwalks for drinks tonight, if you wanna come"
"Thanks. I might make it. But I think I'm doing something else tonight."
She lifted an eyebrow, and her expression got pretty suspicious.
"You've been going out a lot lately. What have you been doing?"
"Oh you know....this and that. Stuff."
"Illegal stuff?"
"No!!"
Mary threw her hands up. "Okay, okay. I just don't wanna get a call at three in the morning saying you've been arrested for...I don't know, indecent exposure and public drunkenness."
"Since when has that EVER happened???"
"I'm just saying!!" she yelled over her shoulder. A minute later, she was hollering a goodbye on her way out the front door.
The truth was, I was in the middle of a war with myself over whether or not to come clean to Mary. She was my closest friend. The only one who I could really depend on, no matter how weird the circumstance. I watched my turtle baby swim in circles and debated pros and cons. Mary would never believe me if I just TOLD her about Loki and what it was that we were doing. She would nod her head and smile and then call someone from the loony bin to come and pick me up in their padded van. Nah, if I was going to introduce them, it would have to be face to face....
I was pushing grapes around the water for Moose to chase when I heard an entirely new voice calling to me from the front hallway.
"I'm in the bathroom!!!" I yelled. Gee, I wonder whom that could be? Ha. As if any other male ever came calling.
When the God of Tastiness appeared in the doorway, he had one long-fingered hand over his eyes, and the other hand wrapped around two beers he had snagged from my fridge.
"What in the world are you doing in here?" he asked, apprehensive.
Tsk tsk. He always assumed the worst from me.
"Just giving Moose a bath. Its safe to uncover your eyes."
"Are you decent?"
"No, but I have clothes on"
He took away his hand and eyeballed me. I waited for a sarcastic comment, but only received a slightly raised eyebrow and a teeny tiny twitch that pulled at the corner of his mouth.
Sitting down on the edge of the tub, he handed me a beer, popping it open for me and doing the same for his. He smiled outright when Moose paddled over to him and blew a bubble at him.
While he gave her attention, I really seized the opportunity to look him over. Today he was encased in a well-fit pair of dark jeans, a dark blue shirt that he had rolled up to just above his elbows, and, wow. A pair of dark blue Converse high top sneakers.
"Nice shoes" I said.
He treated me to a smile that extended its warmth to his very dark green eyes. I have to admit, I lost my breath for just a second. Then I wanted to kick myself in the pants. He probably did that crap on purpose.
"Thank you. I liked the purple ones you possess, and thought to get a pair for myself".
Bless him. My purple high tops were one of my most prized possessions.
Leaning back against the slope in my tub, I took a swig off my beer.
"So what brings you to my humble chambers? You just missed Mary, by the way"
"Yes, I saw her downstairs, getting into another vehicle."
"You could have said hello" I told him. Man, if he introduced HIMSELF to her, I would be off the hook!
But alas, he shook his head.
"It is not the right time for that. I have a suspicion that she would not be as....receptive to me as you are."
An interesting way to put it. Basically he was saying Mary had sense and I was bat-crap crazy.
"As for my intentions, they are honorable entirely, I assure you."
"Sure they are"
He had the decency to look jokingly offended. "I am always honorable in my intentions."
"Yeah, bringing me into a hole in the ground with a dead guy in it was super honorable"
"To be fair, I FELL into that hole and you came down willingly"
Ughhh. No matter how much I fought it, he had an excellent point. So far up to this point, I've followed him into battle willingly. He wasn't making me do squat, because he knew I wouldn't do it if I felt pressured. But by letting me get MYSELF involved, I couldn't get mad at him. Jerk.
"Your left eye is twitching" he said.
Standing up out of the tub, I muttered "Gee, I wonder why...."
Handing me a towel, Loki then bent down to scoop up Moose. He carried her into my bedroom and I knew he was putting her back in her house.
Taking my time, I wiggled out of my bathing suit and wrapped myself in my towel. By the time I had brushed my teeth and swiped on some battle makeup (eyeliner), and made it into the bedroom, he was waiting patiently on my bed, ankles crossed, a small stack of clothes next to him.
Handing over the stack, he said "Get yourself dressed quickly. I would like to be into our task before the sun sets tonight."
Great.
We were probably going out vampire hunting.
I'm not sure if he expected me to change in front of him, or what. But he was giving me a weird look, and from the set of his mouth, I knew damn well he wasn't going to get up and give me some privacy. So instead, I stepped into my closet and left the door just barely cracked. I couldn't see him, but I could hear him.
"So tell me what this mysterious task is" I said through the door, stepping into a pair of black leggings and a black tank top.
"You won't come with me if I tell you now"
Hm. That was suspicious. Suspicious as FUCK.
Wow, he had even set aside a jacket for me. A black one with tiny black sequins on the front. With my battle eyeliner, I probably looked like a goth princess.
Damn!
He was trying to distract me! No way in HELL was I going to let that happen. He was such a buttmunch.
"Tell me what it is," I said, stepping out of the closet and sitting next to him on the bed to put my shoes on, "Or I'm not going at all"
Standing up, Loki crossed the room to the door. Before he stepped through it, he half turned. The serious expression on his face spoke a million words that I didn't understand. Like French for expressions to my clueless American brain.
"Tonight, we are going to kill a man" he said, leaving me with my shoes.
