Repost from @spikesbar_rosemead - We all knew this day would come. We are shattered to announce that we are forced to close our doors on Sept 30, after slinging booze for the neighborhood since 1948. Our entire block (including surrounding businesses and homes) is slated for demolition later this year. Along with everyone of our neighbors, together we have ALL been fighting the development for many years but we've finally lost the battle due to the landowner’s decision. This used to be a bar town, where one could stumble from one door to the next and across the street to enter another watering hole, but that is long gone. We've outlived all of the 50+ neighboring bars who occupied the 4 mile stretch of Garvey Ave. and enjoyed new life in recent years presenting DJs and great bands for you. Speaking for myself as well as the entire Spike's family, we are devastated, but do appreciate all the support we've received throughout the years and the memories we've created & shared. We are reworking our calendar and have a TON of events planned and hope you can join us over the next 3 weeks as we plan to go out with a BANG!!! We look forward to seeing you soon! -Brando #SpikesBar
