How are you both so confident? I'm uber jealous and I absolutely love your style.
We're followers of the Fake It Till You Make It! Campaign. This is not really a campaign, but what we mean by this is that the most practical thing you can do to pursue your ideal style full force, and good self image will come later. To do this, follow these simple steps!
1. Try to identify things you like about other people's style or beauty. Do you love the way a friend pairs skinny jeans with sandals, or how a blogger wears burgundy lipstick? If it helps, create a list, or make an inspiration collage by collecting pictures you find in magazines and online.
2. Once you have a sense of what you like, try a few styles or makeup looks out on yourself! You can easily remix clothes you already have, but if you want to something new, try going to thrift stores like the Goodwill or Salvation Army. They have a huge selection of pieces that you can try, and you will save a ton of money.
3. Introduce these changes in your appearance however gradually you'd like. It might be easier to try one new thing every day or week and building your look as you go, but a lot of people love the immediate satisfaction of an all-at-once makeover!
4. Lastly, and most importantly, gain some perspective on where the ideas of being confident no matter what come from. Don't feel held back by mainstream society's view of what a girl in your area, of your size, or of your background should be wearing. Conventional media lauds the idea of having an 'unmarked' body as the ideal beauty standard--meaning, that women are discouraged from having fat, scars, or piercings. Don't play into the standard! Be confident with what you have because it's great and because your body is ever-changing and unique to you.
