(INCLUDES SPOILERS FROM SPOKE’S LATEST VIDEO “1000 PLAYERS SIMULATE HUNGER GAMES IN HARDCORE MINECRAFT”)
Not sure if anybody mentioned or noticed this before, the most interesting part that fascinates me about Spoke’s character is his arrogance against his opponents and refusing to be at peace with the server. Even when himself and the people around him are at risk.
For example, when Spoke met Jamato for the first time in forever at the farlands, Spoke had a choice: either escape from Leo and venture into the farlands or continue fighting Leo and kill him. In the end, he realizes what Jamato, Mappic, and Zam were planning to do. Due to this, he tries to kill Jamato and FRAMES IT as Leo attacking and killing Jamato, in order to convince Mappic and Zam to join Spoke in his goals to kill Leo.
After a while, when Spoke ends up in the farlands maze after his argument with Mappic in the cave, he suddenly stumbled upon an exit. I almost didn’t notice it the first time I saw the staircase, but it reminds A LOT of the farlands. The white marble-like walls, the flowers and the grass, and the STAIRCASE resembling the ones in the lighthouse are way too prominent to ignore.
The exit symbolizes freedom, because Jamato gave Spoke a chance to escape from his problems and explore the world with Jamato and Mappic (and Zam), However, even after everything, he does not climb the staircase. Instead, he goes back into the maze and tries to reason with Mappic, but upon doing so, Mappic attacks Spoke because Mappic finally knew about Spoke’s assassination attempt of Jamato at the lighthouse. Thus, it resulted in them both getting captured.
Another thing to mention, in the newest spoke video near the end, Jamato told Spoke he had to return to the main server because keeping him in Purgatory would destabilize the prison’s system (because he takes advantage of it). Now, if you weren’t aware of Spoke’s mentality, you would assume he would follow through with Jamato’s orders and go back to the main server. Yet, behind Jamato’s back, he throws another pearl in order to stay in Purgatory (more specifically, the hunger games), so he can resume his plan of killing Jamato.
These three examples here show a lot about Spoke’s character, his determination and perseverance, but also his recklessness and need to get rid of people who wronged him. He does not give up his goals to rid of his enemies and would rather eliminate the people that are against him. This repetitive behavior of Spoke’s actions causes his friends to get caught up in the crossfire. Despite him saying he needs to better relationships with others (like in the newest spoke video) he still manages to ruin his trust with people closest to him due to his actions and ends up injuring innocent people in the process.
