"Well, since Sammy's a spoilsport, I thought it'd be fun ta get ya out and get ya some candy!" Dean clapped a hand on Cas's back with that huge shit-eating grin that usually showed around the angel.

"...I don't see the need for it!"

"Well you should know 'bout it, Cas." They had started to walk now, Dean often waving at little kids that stop to gawk at the angel in the burnished trenchcoat. "It started off as a Pagan festival, celebration, y'know. It was called-"

"Samhain. I know." Cas's dry humor didn't deter Dean, however, and he leaned in close to whisper, and briefly think When the hell did Cas get so tall?, "Plus this is one of those nights where anything can happen, y'know. The barriers between our world and their world are virtually nonexistent around this time, so it makes for a very dangerous night." He straightened and returned to his normal volume. "That's why kids play dress-up and get candy, that way the evil spirits don't get to them." Cas turned his head just a bit to regard Dean with those cloudless eyes. "Isn't that why we're here?"

"That too, buddy. That too." He grinned, continuing on his way. They hit many houses, of course, 'masquerading' as a confused angel and a supernatural hunter. Sam, of course, was outraged that he couldn't get a share of their treats, but Dean caved anyway and shared. They were brothers after all. And it made Cas smile, too.

It seemed Halloween was going to stay a Winchester tradition after all.

so someone actually asked me where sam and cas are and i was like

"Well Sammy's at home and I don't know where Cas is. Either he's in Purgatory or God forbid possessed by another Leviathan. So I decided to come out and have fun. Alone." AND THEN THEY GROUPED UP WITH ME FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT and it was so gr8 like at one house i was like "Do you have any haunted candy I can get off of your hands? And maybe like, lick the wrappers or somethin'."

halloween is so much better when you're alone and then you find people who think like you so it's so much better
