the spoon sisters & thank you, brian!

on friday afternoon, after a long week of work and a quick trip to the grocery store, i got back to my apartment and saw a package outside my door. a few quick thoughts flashed through my mind:

1) how nice that my neighbors brought my package in from the vestibule and brought it to my door.

2) ...wait, i didn't order anything online recently. oh well, must be for karen. she's lucky! i love packages.

3) this package has my name on it! I'M lucky! i STILL love packages!

i was a little confused though - i still didn't remember ordering anything online and the return address was from the spoon sisters. the who?!

i quickly ran to the kitchen, grabbed scissors and tore the box open. inside, i found a note from one of my most loyal readers and commenters, my friend brian. inside was the most thoughtful, fun and adorable surprise: dash/pinch/smidge measuring spoons and cookbook page tags! all for me! just because! HOW AWESOME WAS THAT?!

brian and i have known each other since our first weekend of college and here's the thing about brian. he's pretty terrific. he's always positive, has a great sense of humor and is so supportive. he's a good listener, is very smart and completely loyal. i promise i'm not just saying that because he sent me a present. really - just ask our best friend jason. he and i had a chat the other day about how super brian is :)

i also found out, via his lovely surprise, how awesome the spoon sisters are. they have this incredible inventory of fun, practical, silly and sweet gifts and they pride themselves in their focus on their relationship with their customers.

as someone that more than appreciates a thoughtful gift, handwritten note or perfect surprise, i love their whole philosophy behind the importance of the art of gift-giving. i could buy just about their whole online store.
