‘Sport Changes Life - Happy’ Advert
Upbeat song – Happy by Pharrell – kind of a sports take on his video. There are only two instances where you can hear the natural/environmental sounds – the keyboard tap at the beginning and the shout of happy at the end, otherwise all you hear is the music.
Quite bright lighting in all scenes – not very natural.
Students dancing – shows a range of individuals involved in sports activities.
Its humorous – all subject matter are having fun, being silly.
Shots of all lengths were used, depending on what they needed to depict, where bigger groups it was long shot, but also used close ups where necessary.
Shows women and men of all ages and races.
Again the purpose of this video is not really clear – but it does shoe comradery of the individuals involved in societies.
Medium Close ups to medium long shots are the main camera angles used
Eye level angles in the scenes – this promotes inclusion/equal footing of the viewer.
Natural lighting in most scenes – again to make the concept more natural/inclusive for most people.
Music relatively upbeat – its not very fast/middle of the road.
Voice over/ scene where talking – in scenes you will hear the subject matter talking with a different scene in the background but eventually you see him actually speaking the words
This video used less Kinetic typography – and therefore was less informative
The editing/cuts were relatively slow paced
Not really much of a story – just shows a range of different people interacting with one another. I also did not quite grasp the purpose of this video – I do not think that was conveyed particularly well.
This advert uses Kinetic Typography.
This is a university sports related campaign, promoting an students to partake in the Sport Changes Life foundation’s activities.
It uses simple white text – similar to Arial – if not that font, on a black background mainly, but does alternate and use a white background with black text also and on occasion uses grey (@ 1:
Uses some imagery to convey/portray the message seen at 0:04-0:06. – with the eyes in the Os and the Crash type black spot in the word ‘credit crunch’
Uses various sizes to emphasise key points.
Uses various transitions so that it is not always the same. Like @0:14 the text drops into the screen and @ 0:20 the full stop is what is used to make the next frames white background ‘Like at Fade ins – this match the words in the frame – referred to gloom and the fade in resembled fog.
Sport Changes Life aims to raise the aspirations of young people through sporting excellence, vocational and academic achievement and personal development. We wish to change the lives of disadvantaged and disengaged young people through the medium of sport by building self-belief, achieving success and shaping a person's future. With our Victory Scholar Program we have created a unique opportunity that provides student athletes a chance to extend their education to post-graduate level, continue to play the sport they love and allows them to give back to the local community. We aim to help young people who are disadvantaged and at risk throughout Ireland by encouraging and inspiring them through the medium of Sport. Our Victory Scholars show that sport really can change lives.
