what’s wrong with the phrasing of “i kin X”? what should i say instead?
I'll use one of my oldest kintypes for this.
So if I were to say "I kin Spottedleaf", that would be inaccurate because being kin isn't something you do. It's something you ARE. To say that would give the impression that isn't voluntary and a choice when it's not. It's an identity. It would be more accurate to say "I'm Spottedleafkin" or "one of my past lives is Spottedleaf" if you really wanna be fancy (and are reincarnation spiritualkin).

Dawnspots - The suffix of this name is an homage to the prefix part of the name that Spottedleaf kept during her entire existence. The prefix of this name denotes her ascension to Star Clan and beyond.
Leafwhisker - A name that both pays homage to Spottedleaf and her mentor, Featherwhisker.
Hopestem - A name that not only insinuates that the bearer is where hope stems from, but also references plants with it’s suffix.
Lotuswish - A name that keeps the plant-like naming convention that Spottedleaf took on as a Medicine cat, but adds in a sense of kin euphoria through the “-wish” suffix and mystical concepts of rebirth and divinity, as that is what the Lotus flower is known for.

Orchidpool - A name that not only invokes the love, thoughtfulness and spiritual perfection symbology associated with orchids, but also works as an homage to one of the kits Spottedleaf guided, Leafpool, who's own name might also be an homage to Spottedleaf. This grants the name a cyclical quality that references the spiritual death and rebirth of all things.
Skybark - A name with nature vibes. It denotes someone who is both tough and spirituality oriented, but also has their "head-in-the-clouds," so to speak.
Whitesedge - Pronounced as “white sedge,” this name references a white underbelly (such as the one Spottedleaf has) and an interest in plants/nature.
