Ethan was hacked. And in the hacking, some truths about him came to light - namely, that he wasn't who he said he was. I don't know the details, but "Ethan" wasn't his real name, but an identity he used. When confronted about this, he deleted. But yes, he was hacked, and that brought all the other stuff to light.
But...and I'm honestly not trying to sound like an asshole for saying this...if he lied about who he was, isn't it possible he also lied about being hacked? I guess there's more evidence to confirm he really was, but I don't know enough about tracking and IP addresses to suggest ways he might have "faked" it. I dunno, this whole thing is so seriously weird. For now, I still believe he was hacked, but this new info makes everything very VERY suspicious.
