Just wanted to point out a cool effect I don't think I've seen mentioned about iron lung: the transition of Simon becoming one with the ship is very visually a foreshadow because iron is a critical component for hemoglobin; literally the center of its molecule for its oxygen transport. And the "vein" like structures growing at the last third of the movie are alveoli branches

This isn't about a gacha game just having a range of skintones, though, because it is true colorism exists within China (tbh in almost every country and region) and out of all the gacha games available these are the only few I can show as examples. What it's truly about is using other cultural identities and not properly representing the people they are based on. If it matters to that region then it matters no exception. Constantly ignoring their criticism to continue your story and profits isn't representation, it's using culture as an aesthetic and device

Getting into homicipher and I have a theory that everyone within the world is either spirit to a human who's been there too long, some longer than others, or one who's died on earth and soul somehow falls there. Each of their powers is a vague reference to their past lives, and their hostility is dependent on how much they remember who they were before. This could be direct memories or even just their natural behaviors. All this to say I believe ocs should and can be real, and have either found ways to move their souls back to earth, or died (again) and rebirthed as an even vaguer beast.
