October 15th, 2022 Spaceport @credinaa
Amala hadn’t slept a wink last night, her normal nighttime rituals abandoned in favor of pouring over every scrap of data that she’d collected over the last few months-- only to then toss and turn with a mix of excitement and anxiousness. Unable to get the images of the next morning’s activities out of her head. After months of policy building and preparation courses, the opportunity had finally come:
She was going to fly.
She was finally going to see the stars up close.
Several times through her sleepless night she’d thought about how her younger self would feel; after spending many moons staring up at a speckled sky, wishing she could see more of it. And now to finally be given the chance to do it--! While the thoughts did nothing to help her sleep-- like the courses had suggested she do-- it kept the grin plastered on her face and the twinkle in her eyes.
The smile was still there as the sun came up. Still there as she got herself dressed in a simple jumpsuit, the fabric’s dark blue color making it one of her more subdued looks. And as she made her way to the Spaceport, and to the (relatively) small hanger she was escorted to? The smile only grew.
The guard that’d lead her to the hanger gave her a nod, apparently indicating that she was where she was meant to be and went to speak softly to someone else. She might have heard what was said, if she wasn’t so absorbed in looking around the hanger; her body twisting and her eyes wide as she took every detail in. Finally, though, she did take notice of who was in front of her, the joy still plain to see on her face.
“Hello!” Amala greeted the figure standing next to a ship that was far larger than she’d expected it to be. “Apologies,” Her smile, though still wide, turned slightly embarrassed, and a bout of nerves caused her to chuckle. “I’ve, uh. I never thought I’d actually get to be here.” Another light laugh, and her head lifts to look around again. “It’s so much bigger than it looked in the plans we were sent..”
