Haven't done Informative Fredas in a while, what do we think?
INFORMITIVE FREDAS!
Welcome back to informative fredas! Today we'll be covering the Emperors in the Imperial throne. I dont know about you, but I find that very interesting!!
It all starts with St. Alessia near the beginning for the first era. Saint Alessia is also known as the Slave Queen or Al-Esh. Saint Alessia was the birth of modern Tamriel. Humans were enslaved by the Ayleids before the first era, and Alessia was one of them. Saint Alessia was responsible for the uprising with the slaves and freeing them of Ayleid control(hence why she is referred to as the Slave Queen).
After she freed the slaves, there was a revolt against the Ayleids. With the help of humans who settled in Skyrim, the son of Kynareth(Morihaus), and a crusader named Pelinal Whitestrake, they overthrow the Ayleids. This is the beginning of the rise of man, as well as the start of the first empire.
After the Ayleids were overthrown, Saint Alessia founded the Alessian Empire and became its first Emperess. She implemented the worship of the 8 divines, something that hadn't really been a thing in previous leaderships. Alessia reigned until her death, but before then, she was visited by Akatosh who set her soul into the Amulet of Kings which was used until the very end of the 3rd Era, after Martin Septim used it to permanently seal the gates to Oblivion. It does show up in TES:V Skyrim, but not much is done with it.
A few other important Emperors include Reman Cyrodiil, Tiber Septim(Talos), Uriel Septim VII, and Martin Septim.
1E 2703- Reman Cyrodiil was a man who saved Tamriel from Akaviri invasion. It is thought that the Akaviri wanted to find Reman, as he was dragonborn and had a lot of power. However, Reman defeated the Akaviri and became emperor soon after, founding the Reman Empire. This was when being dragonborn was officially a part of becoming emperor, as it was used to light the dragonfires.
2E 579- Veren Aquilarious attempted to light the dragonfires but was not dragonborn. This resulted in the events of TES:Online. Thought not technically and emperor, I thought I'd include this! This started an era without emperors, which later was fixed by Tiber Septim.
2E 828- This is the rise of Tiber Septim, one of the most well-known emperors in Tamrielic history. In his early life, Tiber Septim was known as Hjalti Early-Beard. Tiber Septim trained with the Graybeards and became one of the best Dragonborn known to man.
Nord and Breton conjoined forces attempted to take over Sancre Tor, and Tiber Septim, known as General Talos at the time, pushed them back with the help of the Blades. This was later named the battle of Sancre Tor. Tiber Septim declared a new era as well as the new Septim Dynasty at his crowning as Emperor, and later died in 3E 38. That was when he was said to have ascended to godhood and joined the 8 divines, making it the 9.
There are many things that Talos did that I can cover in another post, because it sure is a lot!!
3E 145- Pelagius Septim III, also known as the Mad Emperor or Pelagius the Mad, ruled for 8 years. His reign is explained in the Sheogorath questline in TES:V Skyrim. After the Empire declared him too mad to rule, Pelagius's wife ruled until a new emperor was crowned.
3E 433- This is when Uriel Septim VII was murdered by the Mythic Dawn, causing the events of TES:IV Oblivion. A short time after, his illegitimate son, Martin Septim, was briefly crowned emperor. With the help of the Hero of Kvatch, Martin stopped the Oblivion invasion and used his soul and the Amulet of Kings(as well as the help of his dragon blood/Akatosh) to seal the gates of Oblivion. Martin was the last emperor of the Septim dynasty.
4E 168- Titus Mede II was crowned emperor. Just 3 years later, an Altmer ambassador came to him with the heads of the Blades from within the Aldmeri Dominion. This was the beginning of the great war. After numerous battles, lots of bloodshed, and no indicator that anything would stop, the Empire would have done almost anything to stop the war. Though a lot of people did not agree, in 4E 175, the White-Gold Concordat was signed. This banned the worship of Talos and the use of the Blades. Hammerfell refused to sign, left to fight the Aldmeri Dominion until the sign of the Second Treaty of Stros M'kai.
4E ~201, Emperor Titus Mede II was assassinated by the Dragonborn affiliated with the Dark Brotherhood, leaving him the last known Emperor in Tamriel.
If there is any questions about what happened or any other Emperor's you'd like me to cover, send an ask or comment! Happy Fredas, I hope everyone is having a great day :D
been obsessing over the song of pelinal whitestrake all day. I like drawing him as this amorphous blob of starlight and murderous intent who probably scares alessia a lot
bro don't say i'm like the shine on your nose-hoop; an accident sometimes, but whenever you move your head at night, i am there, you're gonna make the audience think we're gay
I wanted to display and appreciate the beautiful, devious, scheming, and powerful ladies of The Elder Scrolls universe.
From Mer to Mortals and Daedric Princes. (Technically, Daedric Princes are genderless but I went with the deities who portrayed themselves as women)
