Pitons in Soufrière, Soufriere, St. Lucia
I guess I'm getting back into isopods because they're small, easy, and I need the little hits of dopamine okay.
I used to keep a bunch of iso colonies a handful of years ago, but got out of it when my favorite colony crashed and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Kind of killed the enjoyment of it for me.
But I'm ready to love again. Up to 5 colonies now. 🤐
Pictured are both Armadillidium species, A. vulgare "St. Lucia" and A. flavoscutatum "Red Head."

It's the latest Caribbean nation to legalize homosexuality.
Alex Bollinger at LGBTQ Nation:
Saint Lucia’s law banning homosexuality has been declared unconstitutional in a historic ruling by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. “This decision is deeply personal. For many years, we’ve worked to see the rights, lives, and dignity of LGBTQ+ persons in Saint Lucia and the OECS protected,” said Kenita Placide, executive director of Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality (ECADE), an LGBTQ+ organization in the Caribbean. “Today’s ruling is not just a win in the courts, it also represents a step towards justice for the many lives lost to violence simply for being themselves. It signals that our Caribbean can and must be a place where all people are free and equal under the law.” At issue were the Caribbean island nation’s gross indecency and buggery laws, sections 132 and 133 of the Criminal Code of Saint Lucia, which criminalize same-sex relations even in private. Under each of those laws, consensual male homosexuality could be punished with up to ten years’ imprisonment. Even attempting to “commit buggery” could be met with a sentence of five years.
Saint Lucia is the latest Caribbean nation to have their colonial-era anti-LGBTQ+ "buggery" law struck down.

Lucia Day on December 13 is a Scandinavian festival of light that is named after the Sicilian Saint Lucia, but the celebration of light during the darkest time of the year can be traced back to ancient Norse winter solstice celebrations.
Very popular in Sweden, the most important part of the scandinavian Lucia celebration is the procession. It is led by a woman wearing a wreath of candles in her hair and also white gowns, singing the traditional Lucia song while walking slowly through the darkness. Scandis really love St. Lucia because it's a celebration of light in the dark Scandinavian winter.
In origin St. Lucia was a young Christian girl from Sicily who lived in the early 4th century. According to the legend, she devoted herself to helping the poor and bringing light. Her procession is one of the most beautiful moments of the winter season, a time when light and hope shine in the darkest days.
