017 Parterre One
A restaurant, a bar, and a concert hall are reorganized around a central patio, a very charismatic space in a heritage building cleaned to become a new meeting place. The different spaces are transformed to find their specific character and work in coordination with each other. The concert hall is transformed into a multifunctional room to enjoy music, drinks, food or host events; and the bar becomes a smoking room attached to it. The careful insertion of the new bar allows for a constellation of relations between this two spaces: from two small bars to one big space and everything in-between. The new venue grows in a double height space around an asymmetrical gallery, a broken line that creates sitting niches in the upper part and a cosy perimeter in the ground floor. This room rediscovers its original openings (long time closed) to let the light inside and multiply its relation to the new smoking-room. The smoking room reinforces its tent-character and becomes a semi-exterior space with a retractile roof, a room in contact with the stars.
