trying to figure out how to most accurately describe mars’s colour and realized i’m not actually sure. i know all the elements of her coat (i think) but i don’t know if there’s a proper/comprehensive name for it? i’ve been simplifying it to “blue tri roan” but that’s somewhere between unclear and inaccurate
roan is definitely her white pattern, that part’s easy
i say blue because her base coat is mostly black, but with her blonde ears and the amount of gold mixed in on her back i think she’s actually sable? but definitely more black than most sables i can find
and then she has that dilute gene (’cream’ in horses, idk if it’s the same in dogs/i know what the colour is called varies by breed) so her ‘tan’ is actually lemon
is ‘black and lemon sable roan’ a thing? help i’m a filthy casual re: dogs
