she's been observing allison through furtive glances for a few minutes now , her curiosity radiating off of her despite her refusal to break the silence that's reigned for the better part of an hour . alli seems determined to ignore her as she pores over some random boring paperwork , & penny's bored . her attempt at patience doesn't last very long , quickly wearing thin & giving way to playful brattiness . ' wow . you know me like the back of your hand . ' heavily tinted with facetiousness , penny leans back in her seat with amusement glittering in her eyes . her curiosity pleads to be addressed : her interest in allison's secretive extracurriculars only growing as time passes , but taking alli's unimpressed tone into consideration penny doubts she'd get any real answers out of her at the moment . ' wanna be in one of my tik toks ? or .... will you hold my phone & film me doing my montero routine ? i just need something to post . '

a scoff broke out of glossy lips, emerald hues rolling instantly. she should have known james potter would be a menace to work with. in fact, lily was certain this would happen. yet, she had hopes. hope that he would see how important hogwarts was to her, how important this project was. but he was just a pompous asshole, always had been. a jerk she was stuck with for the next few hours. oh, what a joy. ❝ i know you are under the habit of getting everything go your way and having girls bat their eyelashes at you simply for existing, but i happen to have standards and a brain. so no, we cannot just snog! ❞ the redhead whispered, cursing herself for blushing at the mere thought. alright, perhaps she did find him attractive, but he had the annoying habit of opening his mouth and reminding her that the prettiest packages often contained the most disappointing gifts. and lily evans was done being disappointed by boys. ❝ if you stop being a prick, perhaps we can just get on with this and be done soon. i'm sure there's a hufflepuff you can charm in seconds and make sure your friday night isn't a complete waste, potter. ❞

funnily  enough ,    lately  penny’s  had  the  inkling  that  may  be  the  case as well .    even  now ,    as  she  lounges  in  allison’s  bed ,    there’s  something  lurking  beneath  the  surface  she  can’t  quite  seem  to  coax  out  of  the  other .    those  soft  brown  eyes  give  nothing  away ,     even  as  penny  pushes  &  squeezes  herself  into  the  cracks  in  alli’s  armor .  ‘  like  that  matters .  ’    her  tone  is  flippant  &  borderline  dismissive  as  she  rolls  onto  her  side ,    face  to  face  with  the  other  girl’s  conflicted  expression .    penny’s  own  features  soften  at  the  sight ,    a  manicured  hand  reaching  to  gently  tuck  a  stray  lock  of  hair  behind  allison’s  ear .    ‘  i  may  not  know  everything  about  you ,   alli ,     but  you  don’t  know  everything  about  me ,    either .    i  think ….    we  know  enough .  at  least ,    i  know  enough  to  know  that  i  really  fucking  like  you .  ’

" lately things came to many a breaking point , and then carried on breaking . she had been shunned away in her own body , inside her own mind and the two men that claimed to love her were just -- oblivious ? unknowing to her not being herself ? they could die . they could go . " where 're you ? i'll meet you . " enough was enough . the phone was pressed against her ear , upheld by her shoulder as she paced and grabbed the few things she cared enough to maybe keep .

it was heartbreaking , if she was to be a bit more honest with herself . she was hurt : it had been terrifying , but maybe more terrifying was finding that nobody was able to tell . that it took so long . that was enough , that was sufficient . there was nothing else left for her in mystic falls , nothing that could tie her to that open grave where invisible hands seemed to be wanting to grab her and drag her down to that quiet rest she'd avoided so many years ago . but elena didn't want that , she wanted to see something new , find someplace different , big , surprising , where she could maybe get lost and maybe be nobody and find a bed and not a coffin to lay down her head during the nights .

a warm body was out of the question .

whether  it’s  a  bar  brawl  or  a  cat  fight ,    penny  always  seems  to  be  in  the  thick  of  whatever  scrap  is  happening .     she’s  not  a  fair  fighter ,    never  has  been :    all  scratches  with  her  long  nails ,    hair  pulling  and  even  biting  every  now  and  then .     pen’s  also  started  taking  boxing  every  now  and  then  to  try  to  channel  her  rage  or  whatever  the  fuck ,    which  hasn’t  made  her  any  less  angry  but  did  give  her  a  boost  in  confidence  that  frankly  she  could  have  done  without .

all  this  to  say …..     when  penny  overheard  another  dancer ,    a  new  girl ,    with  allison’s  name  in  her  mouth ,   she  listened .   she  did  not  like  what  she  heard .   so  at  four  am ,    when  the  club  closed  and  the  girls  all  began  to  go  their  separate  ways ,    penny  and  the  new  girl  argued  in  the  parking  lot .    it  got  out  of  hand  pretty  quick ,     and  pen  had  her  by  the  hair  when  allison  came  out  of  the  building  to  investigate  what  all  the  noise  was  about .     now  penny  is  sitting  in  allison’s  office ,    sulking  like  a  kid  who  got  called  to  the  principal .    allison’s  disappointment  in  her  is  clear ,    but  penny  stands  by  what  happened .    ‘  i  know  you  don’t  care ,   alli .     but  i  do .    she  had  no  fucking  right  to  say  anything  about  you ,     she  didn’t  know  what  the  hell  she  was  talking  about .    besides ,    she  swung  first .  ’    did  she ?    honestly ,   that  might  be  a  lie .    penny’s  memory  of  the  actual  fight  is  a  bit  muddled .

robin’s  dramatics  were  par  for  the  course  at  this  point .    nancy  finds  it  endearing ,    really ,     but  it’s  masked  under  a  veil  of  vexation .    their  creel  investigation  was  a  success ,    and  as  the  entire  party  met  up  at  the  wheeler’s  house  once  again ,     nancy  and  robin  headed  upstairs  to  change  into  more  comfortable  clothes .   robin  had  been  lamenting  the  outfit  nancy  had  picked  out  for  her  for  hours  at  this  point ,     &  now  that  they  were  back  to  safety  robin’s  blunt  nails  pull  at  her  ruffled  neckline  as  though  she’s  about  to  tear  it  off .    nancy  pulled  her  own  blouse  off  &  tossed  it  into  her  laundry  hamper  when  robin  complains  once  again ,     struggling  with  the  dainty  buttons .    ‘  calm  down ,  ’    nancy  sighs ,    stepping  closer  &  laying  a  slender  hand  on  robins  shoulder  to  stop  her  frantic  pulling .     dextrous  fingers  make  quick  work  of  the  blouse  buttons ,   the  column  of  robin’s  neck  leading  down  to  the  newly  exposed  skin  of  her  back .    fingertips  linger  for  a  moment  before  nancy  pulls  away ,    not  quite  sure  why  she’s  blushing .   ‘  there .    you’re  free .  ’
