“  i  do  not  see  the  logic  in  the  first  dance,  jim.  “  while  it  is  always  familiar  &  warm  to  have  jim’s  arms  wrapped  around  him,  their  hands  clasped  together,  he  does  not  see  why  everyone  must  be  there.  “  i  calculate  that  64.37%  of  our  guests  are  not  watching.  those  who  are  seem  to  be  discussing  what  we  are  saying  to  one  another.  it  does  not  make  sense.  why  not  simply  enjoy  the  music  ??  “  he  is  leaning  his  head  down  to  speak  closely  to  his  husband’s  ear.  

the  ceremony  had  gone  according  to  plan.  he  can  feel  the  love  spreading  through  his  husband.   he  had  not  realized  there  was  a  missing  piece  to  his  new  body  at  first.  it  was  only  much  later,  he  had  realized  it  was  the  lack  of  jim  in  his  head.  he  has  felt  this  affection  since  their  bond  was  renewed.  throughout all  of  this  planning  for  their  terran  ceremony,  the  feeling  of  happiness  had  been  settled  in  the  forefront  of  his  mind.  he  found  that  he  did  not  want  to  lose  that.  “  even  the  good  doctor,  who  quite  loudly  demanded  a  front  seat  during  this,  is trying  to  engage  in  a  quite  crude  conversation  with  lieutenant  lysimachia.  i  estimate  his  chances  of  reconciliation  at  5%.  “  he  moved  back  so  he  could  look  at  jim’s  face  again.

silence    was   all    he   had    know    these    past   few    days   .     he   knew    something   was   wrong   .    spock    could   feel   it   .    but   he   also  knew   better   than   to   prey   where    not   wanted   .     jim    was    entitled    to     his    secrets    .     spock    never    used   the   bond    to   look    for   thoughts    he   was   unwelcome   to   .   he    always    asked    .       they    spoke     ,     but    spock    made    sure   to   be   professional    &    mind    his   place    ,    his   mate    needed   space   .     as    much    as    he  wanted   to   converse    about   jims    emotions    ,    it    wasn’t    his   business    unless    he   chose   to   share   with   him  .      -----    spock   was    not   expecting    to   see   the   captain   at   this   hour   ,   much   less    looking      so   distressed    .     ❝    jim   .        ❞     the   greeting   is   simple   .      ❝     you   appear   troubled  .      ❞   >>>>>  @starcaptn​​    hit     the     ♡      for     a   starter

when  leonard  had  awoken  the  second  time  that  day,  jim  had  been  absent  from  their  bed.  a  strange  occurrence,  since  the  doctor  had  demanded  hours  before  that  his  boyfriend  was  not  allowed  to  leave.  but  as  he  listens  closer,  he  could  hear  the  refresher.   eventually,  he  knew  they  would  need  to  get  out  of  this  bubble  they’ve  let  themselves  fall  into.  but  it  had  been  a  while  since  they  had  been  able  to  do  anything.  the  risk  of  revealing  their  weakness  for  one  another  on  rura  penthe.  someone  would  have  used  it  against  the  other.  

when  the  door  to  the  refresher  slides  open,  leonard  is  laying  with  his  elbow  pressing  against  the  pillows,  sitting  up  slightly.  the  blanket  covers  little.  it’s  funnier,  now  that  they’re  older  men,  to  try  to  seduce  jim.  it’s  mostly  a  joke.  at  the  very  least,  looking  at  him  without  shame  for  long  moments,  trailing  his  eyes  up  &  down  slowly,  is  something  he  will  never  take  for  granted  again.

Her inquiries are genuine curiosity, gaze flickering from him to the hall they walk on his ship. It’s impressive, she’ll admit that - rather large in size, and seemed to be taken care of rather well. She doesn’t quite explore ships very often, let alone be within one like this.

     “Like, is your heart in some room connected to the ship by wires or something ?”

there’s  music  playing  in  the  observation  lounge  (  after  a  few  tries  and  a  brief  punch  of  shipwide  static  ),  scratchy  and  halting  with  warbling  vocals  that  slip  across  pitches  like  a  cat  walking  on  a  piano,  but  the  grin  on  the  doctor’s  face  is  a  galaxy  wide  and  as  bright  as  all  the  stars  in  it,  and  he  gestures  with  his  half - empty  glass  to  the  caterwauling  mechanism  as  proudly  as  if  he’d  made  it  himself.      “ I  TOLD  YOU,  i’m  never  gonna  say  a  bad  word  to  scotty  about  his  tinkering  with  my  bio  beds  again.   that’s  a  bona  fide  twentieth  century  record  he’s  got  playing  there,  listen  to  it!    to  think  i’ve  had  the  thing  sitting  on  my  damn  desk  for  WEEKS  and  i  never  asked  if  he  could  rig  somethin’  up  to  make  it  work.   you’ve  gotta  promise  me  you’ll  stick  a  note  on  my  forehead  before  i  go  back  on  duty,  jim,  ‘ask  scotty,  doesn’t  matter  what  about  just  go  ask  him’.  anyway,  i  know  you  and  antiques  ---  i  thought  you'd  like  it. "

the  music  is  still  there  when  his  motor  mouth  finally  runs  out  of  fuel,  a  soft,  sweet  strain  of  some  string  instrument  from  centuries  past  sailing  through  the  room  far  more  smoothly  than  the  melody  of  its  predecessor.   it  reminds  him  of  something,  faint  and  tipped  with  bittersweet;  a  waltz  on  a  far - away  planet.   abruptly,  the  glass  clinks  down  against  the  tabletop  and  mccoy  tugs  on  kirk’s  elbow.      “ SAY,  this  is  the  kinda  thing  people  used  to  get  up  an’  move  to  way  back  when  ---  i  don’t  see  why  we  should  just  sit  around  an’  listen  nowadays.   come  on,  jim,  whaddya  say?   dance  with  me? “      he’s  already  swaying  back  and  forth,  arms  up  in  an  exaggerated  parody  of  a  waltz,  as  grand  and  ridiculous  as  he  can  make  it  and  eyebrows  raised  in  silent  offer.

spock  knows  it  is  illogical  to  linger  without  making  one’s  intentions  clear.  but  he  has  been  standing  in  front  of  the  captain’s  quarters  for  long  enough  that  someone  may  find  it  pertinent  to  call  security  (  someone  who  may  not  have  been  on  their  last  missions  together.  )   his  hand  finally  raises  to  knock  against  the  metal  before  going  to  rest  behind  him  in  his  usual  impeccable  posture.  “  captain,  i  was  hoping  i  could  have  a  moment  of  your  time.  “  this  enterprise,  these  quarters,  are  unrecognizable  from  where  they  had  spent  so  much  of  their  time  before.  his  eyes  catalogue  everything  in  the  room.  not  many  personal  artifacts.  “  your  appointment  as  captain  was  not  premeditated.  v’ger  had  tied  their  hands,  as  one  on  your  home  planet  would  say.  “  or  jim  did  himself. he does not ask the question, but speaks as if it was the most obvious thing in the galaxy.

It would be easy enough to get the unknown out of this. . .box ? Who just places someone in a metallic box in the middle of a planet like this ? It couldn’t mean anything good, that was for certain - though, it might not necessarily mean whoever was trapped in there was terrible.

     “I can get you out, but you got to tell me why you’re just - placed in this prison, and dont lie. I can, um. . .I can sense lies! So I’ll know if you’re lying!.”

Truth be told, she cannot.
