“ you’ll probably be better off when you get home, you know? ”
@stardustend ; danny boy
the party had been danny’s idea, and probably for good reason. jackson's expectations from new york had been different from reality. the initial excitement had been exhilarating; he’d gotten into the same school as his best friend and moved in with him. but a few months in and he’d settled back into old habits. he’d become irritable and unsociable, completely unlike how he once was back in beacon hills. now halloween was upon them and jackson had gone to exactly one party since moving there back in june. he’d barely so much as flirted with a girl and often isolated himself in his room instead of partaking in any social events. but halloween was a holiday that he apparently “wasn’t allowed” to pass up. danny had even dragged him out to get a costume despite how jackson had protested. for a moment, it starts out with that same sense of excitement that he’d felt when first moving to new york. they’re in ridiculous costumes, and almost instantly the social life brings him right back to life. but it’s less than an hour in when he drifts from danny’s side and watches his best friend in his half-naked costume shamelessly flirt with some tall, dark haired boy. he makes a beeline for the alcohol, pouring himself a shot while some girl dressed as tinkerbell makes some comment about the handcuffs on his belt. he ignores her and pours another. another hour passes, maybe two, jackson stops keeping track of the time --- only the fact that danny’s now too fucking close to the tall asshole boy. not that he knows if said boy is actually an asshole. all he knows is that the room is spinning, he probably needs to vomit, and he doesn’t like how danny’s looking at tall-boy. after downing another drink, he pushes his way past people and stumbles into his best friend, grumbling some kind of half-assed apology before glaring at tall-boy. “ this party blows. do shots with me. ”

“long time no see.”
with his arm propped against the doorframe , ---- stiles takes a moment to be sure that they’re alone. he’s not been in this house for two weeks , not been around them for just as long. “ did you speak to scott ?? “ his voice is soft , a little nervous but his eyes focus solely on the other.

“you’re not paying attention to me and it’s a travesty.” clarke can’t help the way her lower lip pokes out, the pout coming on full force as she hesitates a minute --- and then plops herself right on costia’s lap. there might have been a book there a second ago, but it’s lost under her at the moment, and she couldn’t care less. instead she blinks up at the other woman, offering a tiny smile as she reaches up and wraps a curl around her finger. “hi.”

“This is all quite new to me dear, I’m not quite sure what to do.” ---
True enough. Seeing a psychologist was a relatively new experience. Of course she’d never seen one solely for the purpose of treatment, but she also tried to avoid using them for any ulterior motives. Unfortunately, her interest in the woman across from her outweighed her aversion to the profession. Admittedly, only very slightly. --- “I understand I’m meant to talk to you, and somehow my alleged issues are fixed. But where exactly am I meant to start? How do you change the neural pathways in my mind to think differently? And most importantly, isn’t it somewhat narcissistic of you to presume you can help people like that? And don’t give me that i just want to make a difference sob story. If you were that naive you wouldn’t be so highly recommended.”

dean didn’t listen to the warning signs when he accepted the mark, because he was desperate. had he known then what it would turn him into, he never would have chosen it. he would have tried to find another way that didn’t threaten everything that he stood for. he wanted to believe that there was still hope for him, and cain was the only one who could restore his faith in himself. ‘ you’ve lived with the mark for centuries. how’d you do it? ’

“You know, most girls my age get their nails done with their aunts -- not weird voodoo ceremonies to get back at their exes.” Obviously the 16 year old is smiling, her arms crossed over his chest as she leans further back in the chair. There’s a glint to her smile -- she’s obviously excited about this being the way her day is turning out.
