Would anyone be interested in me posting Starfall Academy lore or worldbuilding ever so often between the monthly progress updates? For example, Lore Wednesdays? They would be tagged with #lore wednesday in case someone wants to avoid spoilers, or wants to discover the story on their own.
You may have noticed Roblox is starting to roll out face verification, requiring people to complete it or verifying using ID, with players risking the inability to chat if they don't complete this.
Starfall Academy does not condone this, but this is not the end for the project. The development team has decided to stay with Roblox. The most likely outcome is the decision being reversed due to being illegal in Roblox's country of jurisdiction (the US).
Development will continue until:
The decision is reversed, in which case Starfall Academy will release at the earliest possible moment;
A year has passed since the beginning of enforcement, in which case Starfall Academy will release at the earliest possible moment;
Development becomes impossible for unverified people, in which case Starfall Academy will shut down.
Good at digital art/3d modelling/coding in Luau/building in Roblox Studio? (Or not good at any of these but interested and willing to learn?)
Interested in the dress-up or roleplay genre?
Looking to work in a small team?
Want to be paid a share of the game's profits upon release (if interested)?
Maybe working on Starfall Academy is right for you!
We are a small team of 5 working on a school roleplay game. While it's still in its early stages, the game needs plenty of helping hands to grow. If you're interested in helping out, contact me by either messaging this account or my main account (@starboundmoth) and we can discuss terms that will work for you!
At this stage we are mainly looking for 3d modellers, coders and builders.
Hi, everyone! I know I promised to post last Friday, but I hope you'll forgive these short delays caused by life. September was a very fruitful month when it came to game development, as a whole lot got done despite our team being very busy.
We're (still) looking for volunteers! If you're interested in helping either build, 3D model, make music or art for Starfall Academy, please contact me by messaging this blog.
Achieved last month
Starfall Academy's campus has been finalized. (It was the clocktower that was the problem!)
Initial main GUI has been made.
A 12-hour and weekday clock has been made. (The weekdays were so much trouble...)
Main goal of next month
Design either a fixed or a randomized weekly schedule for classes.
Remember how I said that August would be better for the game's development? Well, that ended up being false.
None of the goals I have set for August were achieved, and I had to significantly scale down operations to work with my exhaustion. This means one main goal and a few other, smaller goals that would be nice to have completed, but are not necessities.
What was done, though, was admin work and plenty of delegation. This August was a big lesson to be learned - I can't do everything myself in such tiny time frames.
Main Goal
Redesign the Starfall Academy campus from the ground up via sketches. This needs to be done so that other work can go forward.
Side Goals (nice to do, not necessary)
Continue working on trees and foliage
Design initial textures
Begin working on the terrain around campus
September will be slower, with a majority of the team starting some form of education again, but I hope that at least we'll be able to achieve the main goal.
Hello, everyone! It's been quite a while since my last post. I'll be posting once/twice a month with progress updates on Tumblr - at the start of the month with the work plan (Path Ahead), and at the end of the month with what has been achieved (Progress Update).
This month was fairly disorganized, with me trying to do way too much and failing. However, progress was still made! even though it doesn't feel like progress T-T....
Achieved this month
+ Refined the school schedule and week system, now ready for coding
+ Drew the concept art for the North and Central Wing
+ Built the grayboxes for the North Wing and the Lighthouse
+ Refined the Game Design Document
Need to be done next month
Full graybox of the Central Wing
Make 3D models of architecture elements for the campus
Draw custom textures
Sculpt terrain around campus
I have high hopes that August will be significantly better, now that I have a team and community to back me up and clear goals to be achieved.
Hello everyone! As you may have noticed, there's been a bit of a rebrand happening on this blog. This is because I've shifted away from Royale High and decided to turn this blog into a game development focused one.
Starfall Academy is my own project that draws inspiration from older Royale High and magic schools as a concept, which I hope will become a roleplay space open to all with kind intentions. While it's been planned for over a year, the game development progress has only started very recently - and was in bursts, due to high school getting in the way.
I hope that with this blog to motivate me, I'll be able to get more done and keep people updated as I go on with developing this game!
If you are interested in helping design the game, please message me! I'm looking for artists (+ concept artists) mainly, due to my struggles with digital art. Right now I'm the only one working on the project, so any help means a lot to me!
