The absolute last thing, Hanbyul wanted to see when she opened the file that was left for her were Jiyong and Sungmin’s name at the top of the paper, G-Dragon’s name drop, all together with the words ‘violent altercation’. Having to deal with this was not part of her plan but it would appear as if another separation order might be needed.

The faux Kwon family was becoming too stressful for the doctor.

Identifying Information and Reason for Referral

Kwon Jiyong is a 25 year old male of South Korean decent and married to Lee Seungri, another resident of Seoul Psychiatric Institute who shares the same condition as Mr. Kwon. As he is a resident of the institution, he can be contacted through the nurses' station or by going directly to his room. Mr. Kwon was sent to Seoul Psychiatric under order by law after a murder incident and psych evaluation 2 years ago. He has come to therapy for not only his disorder but for help in handling the situation with his husband's memory loss, saying that he, “promised them I’d protect them…”

Mental Status Examination

Mr. Kwon's appearance was normal. There was no present evidence of loss of care in any way to his body or clothing and appeared well kept. He was very responsive to questions; there was no discrepancy in his speech. When talking about his current and past situations, there was noted frustration However, he was particularly keen to nervous playing of his rings but as the session progress became highly distressed, slouching and fidgeting.

History of the Present Problem (or Illness)

He's not sure how long he had the disorder or when he started presenting symptoms though he can remember moments of memory loss and blackouts and was made aware of his alter, G-Dragon, when originally admitted to the institute. There as also a mention of possible alcohol dependency, something Mr. Kwon had originally attributed to his memory loss and black outs. However, most of his distress stems from the problems his husband is having with his own disorder and current amnesia. It would appear that he remembers nothing of his time at the institute and believes that he is elsewhere. More understanding of his condition can be discovered upon talking to him.

Past Treatment History and Family Treatment History

Mr. Kwon feels that progress has been made but was not specific about his past treatment history. Another look at his file and any therapy notes is advised along with bringing this up at the next session for discussion. However, it is assumed that his progress is aided by the help of his husband but with the current problem his husband is experiencing, progress may be halted.

Current Situation and Functioning

Despite current disorder, Mr. Kwon managed to find a significant other and marry, having being able to function in a normal capacity. He is happy but also there is frustration and annoyance and doubt with his current situation. In addition, during the session, after being pushed too far into distress, a younger alter appeared, calling himself Jingyo. This alter had not been in active in some time and was very young, a teenager to be specific. He was very childish and upbeat.

Diagnostic Impressions

As far as Mr. Kwon's dissociative identity disorder is concerned, there are a total of two alters that have made themselves known. Jingyo appears to have been with him for a while now though he is not aware of him. The case would have been the same with G-Dragon if he were not informed. A more thorough investigation of their triggers wold be needed to understand more of their purpose. Jingyo is not aware of G-Dragon.

Case Formulation and Treatment Plan

For now, more information needs to be gathered on both G-Dragon and Jingyo, including their perceived purpose and there specific triggers. Next, a one on one meeting with Lee Seungri will be set-up to determine exactly where he is in his functioning. More will be determined upon obtaining this information.
