secondly, i wanted to ask if you have some tips to improve the quality of gifs? especially concerning sharpening techniques? i guess you must get a lot of questions and i’m sorry if you have answered something like this before!!

hi omg!! this is SO kind, thank you so much for saying that wow :’)) i’m just over here sitting in photoshop i really appreciate that AW. also, i think sharpening is so important so yes! i made this tutorial a few months ago and it’s still how i sharpen! it has a few steps, but once you’ve done it a few times, it becomes second nature and i get it done in under 30 seconds (unless photoshop is being laggy lol). i’d just note that the opacity of the gaussian blur layer can depend on the quality of your source material, so my range is typically 40-50%. for mr. robot, i screen record straight out of amazon prime and it’s HD, so i usually do 45-50% opacity on the gaussian blur layer (but it totally depends on the effect you like! some people like sharper gifs, some people like sharp-soft gifs and i like both). if you’re getting your clips or screencaps (depending on your giffing import style) from 720p or lower, i’d definitely lower that opacity to around 40%. with tweaking, you can even make 360p videos become passable gifs (especially if they’re small! not that i’d advise this, but i’m a fan of old music videos that haven’t been re-released in HD yet). i hope this helped and if you have any other questions, let me know! i’m always so happy to see your mr. robot gifs in the tag, keeping this fandom into it haha.
