What’s The Story…? from NME, 14th July 2002

Oasis and Starsailor were involved in a backstage fight yesterday (July 13) at T In The Park after Starsailor frontman James Walsh asked Noel Gallagher about a remark he made about him recently in the NME.

Within minutes, frontman Liam became involved. “Liam came over and squared up to me" Walsh told NME; "he puffed up his little pigeon chest and said: ‘Don’t ever interrupt my brother’s interview again. If someone says you are a c**k, then you are one. That’s it.’ He then got his security guards over and one held him back while I was talking to another one. It all just got a bit out of hand.” (NME)

An update on 2021;

James Walsh told NME; “It was a mad time and the only period in our lives when we were all over the tabloids, and it was a fuss over nothing. We’ve done gigs with Liam since. I’m not sure how Noel feels about it, but we’ve definitely made up with Liam anyway!”

“To be honest, I find it funny now. At the time, I was an oversensitive 22-year-old who was also a massive fan of Oasis, so I didn’t like it. Also, they alluded to the fact we were students – the same kind of abuse Coldplay got. (...) But Noel seems to have a go at everybody apart from Paul Weller and The Beatles [laughs].” (NME)
