OC time: Starshade

Hiiii here is my girly Starshade

Not Tolkien related lol

A note on her name: Starshade was originally the name of an elf character I wrote about when I was 12-16. She is no longer with us, but I wrote a whole Leithian-style poem about her. When I made my first social media accounts like 10 years ago I decided to call myself starshadeemily in her memory, and I've used the same user name for every account since then. I didn't want to reuse the name for a new character, especially because it's now my username on every website, but the old name fits the new girl like a glove. The new girlie's name was originally Cybelle, but I decided that I was going to give everyone else in her story a warrior cats-ass name (Bluestar, Moonflower, etc) and she needed a name that fits these conventions, so I decided to name her Starshade.

Ok tell us about her:

She is a cult leader and a witch and I love that for her

She's a human of about average height. Her hair is black and her eyes were originally blue, but they become purple later

She lives in a fantasy world in like an early iron age society and was born in a mountain village

She fell into a fire as a child and was facially disfigured. She was bullied by her seven step-sisters and their skank ass husbands

The goddess Algol (ok she's not really a goddess, she's starborn, which are like superhuman incarnate beings, but the local mortals revere her as a goddess soooo same thing) buys her from her mom when she is 16

For ten years, she lives with Algol, who teaches her magick and sorcery and she becomes skilled in transfiguration

She steals an elixir of Algol's blood and uses it in a spell to make herself beautiful

This is important because in doing so, she steals part of Algol's power, thereby gaining semi-divine abilities few other humans have.

Algol kicks her out obviously. She wanders the earth. She makes some friends.

She later becomes the prophet and high priestess of a fringe religious community because of her abilities as a miracle worker. She cares about her people and wants to take care of them. However, she continues to seek more power so she can better protect them. The power that she gains is very dangerous and quickly goes to her head.

SHE FUCKING DIES because she wouldn't repatriate a sacred and cursed magical artifact she stole

Now she's a ghost :)))

I'm writing a....narrative about her. I will not say a book since I don't know how long it will be. But i am endeavoring to put her story into words.

when did athena figure out she was trans?? One of your Kofi images shows her interacting with her younger self!!! did she know she was a girl back then?

she figured out really early on! minerva is a really supportive mother, and she let athena take the lead on things she wanted to wear (when she was old enough to make that decision of course). since she was ever only really around her mom growing up except for trips, she didn't experience much pushback from anyone about being trans. she just knew she wasn't a boy

for athena this is also because her pre-transition is not the main focus of this story -- of course it's important! but because she's already realized who she is gender and sexuality wise, it's time for other things to take the stage, if that makes sense! (that, and also i do not want a canon pre-transition design put out there due to my personal comfort. again, who she was before is important but i want to focus on the now and where she grows from here)

Day 8 already! Yes, I was wild enough to draw five familiars from Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch!

I absolutely adore the creature design and have a few favorites, but these buddies in particular I know are on my main team and I refuse to swap them out even if their synergy with their user doesn't maximize their potential.

I never beat NnK1 but I am ok with that. It's honestly a story I think I'd be sad to finish, if that makes sense-

I got into a groove today and, after seven years of playing XIV, finally got a design down for my main girl Minami Bambai.

There'll be a formal bio coming ... eventually??? I have three other party members to draw reference images for, but tbh it feels fitting that Minami was the one who was drawn first.
