Normally, Eri never strayed too far from the dens that were further on ahead in the dragonlands. She knew of the potential dangers from being too far. Despite the barrier that the Matriarch placed around her domain, it only served to alert the flock, not guarantee instant protection. Should something ever happen to the child, the mother of dragons would not be able to reach her in time. All it’d take is just a second too late, and Eri would have all that effort in keeping her safe be done for naught.
So for a while, she stuck to precautions. Enough time passed without any incident to note, however, and with it came this false sense of security. Many of the dragons have even grown rather lax. Katsuki and Deku still haven’t returned, but perhaps just this once, it should be okay to venture off on her own...
What a mistake that was. Of all the days that it could’ve happened, it just had to be on the day she mustered enough courage to explore alone. Eri was in the middle of looking for bugs under rock piles when she’d suddenly felt an unfamiliar presence approach. Fear immediately rocketed up to her throat, and she quickly whirled around to see someone that.. looked similar to Deku. Was it Deku? No, it isn’t Deku. But then who.. is he...?
..He wasn’t alone, though from the sounds of it, he wasn’t affiliated with them either. A group of bandits must have secretly followed after Yamikumo’s trails for the best possible route into the dragonlands, searching for the Dragon King on all the wanted posters.
Eri’s panicked mind struggled to pick up the words being exchanging between all the humans. The only thing that did register was the rogue giving her a stern command, one that promised protection. Something about him felt as though he meant it, and so the little child blindly placed her trust in him. Body trembling, she hid behind the stranger. Those men... Do they also want her?
