I don’t actually know what I’m doing but these are good starting points. It's kinda hard to think in 3D like this. As a first go at a turnaround I think they're okay!

Hello again ! Hope I'm in the right section this time :p Here is my request. I like writing drama with an original starting point. Two of my recent novels began with "2 men meeting in a road restaurant decide to exchange the announcement of bad news when they get home" or "people knowing he has 10 days left.". Coud you find interesting starting drama points like these ? Good luck and thank you ! :)
Hi and yes, you came to the right place 😁
Drama Starting Points
The world was ending soon, and he was still waiting for the coffee he had ordered twenty minutes ago.
An old woman had gathered her family, to announce that none of them would inherit anything from her.
A group of people in a bar discuss the weird situations they were in that day and slowly realize that all their experiences have something in common.
When they started building the new school, they had expected to maybe find unexploded WWII bombs, but what they found instead was nothing they could have expected.
The terrible news hit the small town at the worst possible moment.
Hope they inspire you and have fun writing!

a smoll break
I'm going to take probably two weeks or so off from this lil story so i can work on some stuff for my main, but i figured now is as good a time as any to provide some story links surrounding my lil simblr :)
-
The Cortes Legacy (which turns 5 years old this year omg) is the main staple of my simblr, and princess and me is a side story to it :3 If you would like to boldly go where few have gone and start from:
The Beginning: Gen 1 Maia Cortes (minimal editing... no cc... what a wild time this was...) Gen 2: Susanna (started to get more into an actual ~story~ wowie wow) Gen 2.3: In between stage, Gen 3 are kids
Gen 3: Xavier and also Whitney to be fair. (story is now more important than gameplay lol I really like this era tbh)
Gen 3.4 In between stage, Gen 4 are kids. (another era I LUV, also! teenage cordy pops up in this era :D)
-
And Gen 4 will pick up with Sorella & co. in high school when I finish Princess & Me. Which I honestly think won't take me much longer as Act III will be much shorter than the other two lol. I'm pleased that I'm actually going to finish a little side project tho this is exciting.
Oh! And if you're new, and haven't read through all of Princess & Me, Here is a link to the start of that.

2 more of the fun things I have done with my hair in the last few months.
I was thinking about reading the Vorkosigan Saga, since I’ve seen you post about them, and i do love sci-fi. I was wondering what book you would recommend starting with? Thanks
Ah. Heh. I’m probably not the best person to ask this, actually. I was boring and started at the start. Well. Depending on your definition. I started at the start of the Miles series, which means ‘Warrior’s Apprentice’ and 'The Vor Game’. This is a series where I think it is genuinely easier in later books if you’ve read the previous ones. I do have to say, though, that it takes a while to pick up speed, and I’m not actually that fond of 'Warrior’s Apprentice’. It’s good for getting a handle on Miles, but of the two of those Vor Game was a lot more fun for me (Gregor helps, he’s amazing). It does get better from there, but it’s one of those series where I feel you’ve got to start at the start to get the full benefit of what happens later.
However, you can also start with the Cordelia duology, 'Shards of Honor’ and 'Barrayar’, which are set chronologically earlier, star Miles’ parents, and are a LOT toothier of a pair of books. They are … They’re a bit of a tonal shift from the main series, because the Barrayar they live on is a LOT darker and more bloody than the one their son lives on later (mostly thanks to their efforts), but they are FABULOUS. I’m just not sure about starting with them, because they might skew your expectations slightly for the rest of the series.
Hmm. I might read the Miles two first, then the Cordelia duology, then the rest of the Miles series. The first two Miles books are really visibly finding their feet, so that might put you off, but they’re worth it to get the rest of them, and then the Cordelia books are a good sharp shot of blood and thunder to hook you the rest of the way.
Oddly enough, I think my favourites of the whole series are probably Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance, which is a much later book and kind of a different tone as well (it swaps from Miles to Ivan as main POV, and he’s a much different animal to his cousin), and the Cordelia books. The main Miles series gets a lot meatier after it’s shaky start, though, and there are some absolutely amazing (and painful) books in there once it gets going.
As I said, I may not be the best person to ask. If anyone else has better advice, feel free to weigh in -_-;
Major Project Starting points
i want to be able to explore something I am passionate about while still fulfilling my passions as to who I want to become as a designer and the disciplines i want to move into:
Disciplines I'm interested in and what parts of them I like:
Packaging: I like making physical outcomes and being able to handcraft tactile things with a purpose. I have recently been inspired by the ability to have packaging which is beyond the physical presence and also has digital elements to make it even more engaging.
Branding: Being able to pick apart a brand and understand their core values and purpose to create successful and engaging assets to represent them.
Typography: being able to visually communicate through a range of different parts of type using hierarchy as well as the ability for the type to be kinetic and move and express meaning beyond the words written down.
Areas of the world I am interested in:
The ocean: I have been interested in the ocean my whole life, I have always collected shells I see on the beach, how different they can be even when they have a similar shape, and the uniqueness between them. I grew up doing lots of water sports and has been a big part of my life, doing lots of sailing and generally growing up on the seaside. i also have an interest in sealife and the vast animals there and how much we don't know about the sea. I also think there is something to say in the medicinal values of the ocean and what health benefits can be derived from the ocean, from salts and algea to the sustainability in ocean materials like seaweed and the advancements in using it as an alternative to plastics.
My family's history with Poland and how they are now taking in Ukrainian immigrants: I have family who i visited recently who have taking in Ukranian immigrants who are escaping the war and they have had 6 families through so far, all of whom have had a strange connection to their relatives, from growing up in the same village to knowing mutual people. I think it is interesting to see how all of these strangers have connections and something is common in a time of such dispair as well as the long history between poland, russia and germany.
Nature and the outdoors: I am an outdoorsy person who takes a lot of inspiration from the natural worlds so might be interesting to take a new look on branding from that perspective as it is something i might want to do in the future.
Potential starting points:
'Plastics are polluting our oceans design a campaign and packaging redesign for a company to become more environmentally friendly and encourage users to buy their products'
'Design a typographic documentation of the Ukrainian families being homed here and explore how they are all linked and how they might overlap. Consider the different languages and possible interactions and limitations '
'Design a typeface inspired by the sea and explore how it can be used as an asset for positive environmental impact'
I think i am currently leaning towards exploring packaging and typography and the ocean and creating a positive impact or a cause for change in the way we use plastics and prevent ocean pollution. I think before i start forming a question more deeply, i need to research the topic so i can identify real problems which i can design solutions for.
DEAD WOMAN WALKING:
His wife. Originally an untriggered werewolf (neither of them knew) that was turned because he accidentally put her in danger and she triggered the curse as self defence. He has always blamed himself and behaves as if she were truly dead. Last thing said to her, “If I see you again, I won’t hesitate.” Open to any werewolf between 40 - 55.
DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO:
Someone within the reapers he is guiding, helping, training ... someone he is lowkey responsible for. Open to any reaper.
THORN IN THE SIDE:
This is someone who antagonises him to no end. Constantly getting under his skin (could be mutual), fist fights, verbal sparring, possibly knows something they shouldn’t about Julian Connor. Taken by Nolan.
BLOW OFF SOME STEAM:
This can be anyone NOT supernatural. Nothing romantic, purely physical, stress relief even. Possibly someone he starts to rely on to confide in when he gets frustrated. Open to any human.
BURN BABY BURN:
Firehouse buddies. Everyone needs friends at work, while he would exactly classify anyone as a friend, this is someone he gets on with at the firehouse. Open to anyone.
