Just be cool and recycle
Today in very minor problems:
The bottle and can deposit system confuses me. Or, more accurately, it confuses me that people are surprised you are never going to get to a 100% recycling rate. And no, not in Germany either, because then the term "Pfandjäger" (deposit hunter) would not exist.
Liquids in small plastic drink bottles and cans are designed specifically to be consumed on the go. And sure, maybe you're from a culture where that is frowned upon because you're supposed to sit down or at least stand at a bar before you consume anything, and all drinks need to be consumed from a cup or a glass. I am not looking at you. But in countries like mine, where you bring your own lunch and maybe take a can or a bottle of something because hey, no leaks... Do you really expect everyone to then take a very sticky and leaky empty can and put it back in their bag? When they bought that thing because no leaks, everything stays clean and you can easily dispose of it after use? Keeping is not what it is designed for! It is designed for people who will be consuming something on the go and do not want to bring a thermos! Why would you expect someone not to chuck something when that is the main selling point of the thing? You know? Convenience and chuckability? It's like telling people to not, under any circumstances, kick a ball.
If you don't want stray cans - or even simply non recycled cans - you either have to outlaw cans or invest in good bins and recycling systems after the item has been disposed of. I'm not against a deposit system, because I'm quite sure fewer cans end up in nature like that, but no "don't kick the ball" campaign will stop all people from kicking balls. That is what they are made for, after all.

dit is hoe het voelt om weer over statiegeld na te moeten denken na een jaar in het buitenland te hebben gewoond
True facts!
In the Netherlands you can pay with tin cans, stamps and polaroid pictures
Plasticflessen hergebruiken
