STATION 42.
Station 42 is an abandoned train station near the border of Queens and Brooklyn. It’s station building is located around other, unused complexes and roped off by old caution tape, chains, and wired fencing. The brick and concrete crumble from the station’s age. Yet, inside is more of an apocalyptic scene of the 50s’ left to waste.
Being built in the 50s’ the station held its routes within Queens and Brooklyn. It was soon replaced after twenty years of service. Now it’s a hotspot of rumor and exploration.
Only Station 42 isn’t completely uninhabited. Beyond the doors of the main station building’s employee room door is a man-made stairwell. This stairwell if crafted of big, broken blocks of cement and rock and leads to the hub. Where trains used to switch out cabs is now decked out to the likings of Airin and Xavier.
In the center of the hub lies a giant pillow pit where the switch track used to be. Completely gutted to create a soft death trap, but also where the twins sleep. Along the walls between the cubbies where parked trains used to dwell are different shelves, a desk, and one mini fridge. The shelves are decorated with various books, texts, and trinkets ; new and old. Two generators and heaters are also against the walls. And strung throughout are white Christmas lights for comfortable lighting.
Only two train cars remain. Which is where Airin does his more delicate and secret studies and research. He doesn’t allow anyone back there without his permission. These carts are connected and partially covered by a giant sheets that have been sewn into one large piece.
This hub has two other exits, and leads out to the primary track.
Because Station 42 is their home, Xavier will often patrol the station building and proximities close to it. He does so to protect their location, but he’s also a cause of some the station’s rumors. He dares not to hunt so close to home, so he scares explorers and squatters away through somewhat harmless means.
Other notes:
Mama Bull owns Station 42 to protect it from being destroyed by the city.
Xavier patrols it, but only intervenes if people get too close to his and Airin’s home.
Airin allows stray dogs and cats to take shelter in the station. They’re not allowed in the hub.
