Eagle Child in Staveley. by Tony Via Flickr: In the 18th century a turnpike road from Kendal to Ambleside was constructed through Staveley. In Dorothy Wordsworth's journal for 1802 there are references to an inn at Staveley (possibly the Eagle and Child). She wrote: "I am always glad to see Stavel(e)y; it is a place I dearly love to think of"

Cuteness amongst the daisies! by Julie Via Flickr: My knowledge of waterfowl is limited & there appeared to be both adult Canada Geese & Greylag Geese around so I'm guessing this gosling could be a Greylag due to the colour of it's legs. Cute anyway!

Dorothy’s Bluebells

Bluebells are out! Usually this would involve a hike around the magical Rannerdale, a valley carpeted in bluebells. Instead, we thought we’d try somewhere else and went to Staveley to explore Dorothy Farrer’s Spring Wood. And bluebells galore there were! Amongst lots of other flora and fauna (I spotted a mouse!) And the woods were alive with sounds of birdsong. What a beautiful place.
