Looking forward to visiting Sonic Fan Fest at the weekend - the cool blue one has been one of my core geeky passions since I was a youngling, thanks largely to the UK's Sonic the Comic, published by Fleetway Editions between 1993 and 2002.

STC was the UK's official SEGA comic, featuring a unique continuity of stories and characters inspired by the Megadrive/Genesis games, as well as other strips based on the Sega superstars of the day. It also included magazine features with news, reviews, and tips for games released for Sega systems.

No surprise really then that I owe a lot of my current creative endevours to that publication, and here is my pitch for a reference title that I put together back in the day to celebrate the stories and characters I grew up on and that inspired me - and a shout out to the elder UK millennials that know what I'm banging on about!

Fleetway Super Sonic/Amy Rose

To begin with, I'll admit that this ship isn't really my thing😅

S0namy is usually one of my notps (with the exception of their Sonic Prime dynamic, which I'm more neutral to), and this extends to characters who are based on/derived from Sonic (which is to say that I'm not really a fan of Met4my either).

I can kind of see the appeal of it. So far as I've gotten in StC, Amy is one of the characters Fleetway Super Sonic specifically calls out as hating/wanting to destroy on multiple occasions. Amy, for her part, really isn't fond of him either. With that kind of fixation on Amy specifically, I think there's a couple ways you could develop their relationship to a certain conclusion to your tastes.

One option is for this fixation on Amy to become deeply set and more complicated. Love and hate are two sides of the same coin, after all. So, if that's your thing, I could see that hate sort of warping into interest. Perhaps it starts from a place of wanting to/kill torture, but then moves to a place of interest? I'd suppose his actions would look similar, but they'd be fueled by an interest in understanding Amy better/seeing her reactions as opposed to solely reveling in her pain. It doesn't exactly scream "I have feelings for you" to Amy's face for sure, but it's Fleetway Super Sonic. He'd have an...interesting method of showing affection. Although, thinking about it, this concept kind of sounds like a horror story from Amy's end and torture porn turned rom com from Fleetway Super Sonic's end😂 I don't actually think it's impossible for them to develop something...healthier, maybe? It would take a great deal of work I think, though, considering the mutual hatred.

The second option is more of an enemies ship thing. No fluff here, just tearing each other apart obsessively and leaving each other alive within an inch of their life so they can do it again next Tuesday. Although, realistically, I feel they'd either fight until it stalemates out/Fleetway Super Sonic doesn't have the chaos energy to continue, or we end with Fleetway Super Sonic choosing not to deal the killing blow, not wanting to give up such a toy already.

I'll admit, it's more or less "I just think it's neat" ship for me. What drew me to it was Sonic's line after he steps in between Infinite and Silver

But, honestly, that whole interaction is pretty good 😂

Infinite: Well, look who's back from the dead. The little blue savior. But what's that I smell? You reek of fear. Glad to see I left an impression.

Sonic: That's not fear. I ran all the way over here. And you haven't left an impression. I don't know anything about you! Not even your name.

Infinite: You may call me "Infinite" in the brief moments that remain to you.

Sonic: Great! See, Infinite, now we're getting to know each other! So, what's your favorite color? Do you like long romantic walks on the beach? What's the source of your power?

As for dynamic, I'm more into the enemyship angle with these two. Sort of like the 1nfinadow dynamic, but swapped if that makes sense.

I like to think about Infinite doing his research on Sonic, hearing from Eggman and everyone else how formiddable of a foe he is and how powerful he is, and finding himself...sorely disappointed. This is Sonic the hedgehog, the hero who the doctor couldn't seem to defeat? Infinite doesn't see Sonic as any real threat, nor does he find anything particularly interesting about him.

And then I like to think about Sonic, who's been beaten by this guy twice now, finding himself interested in Infinite because of the power he seems to hold. Sonic doesn't like losing, but he does enjoy a good challenge. He's going to have his fun taking on Infinite until he finally overtakes him (which he's confident he will).

So to take a step back a bit it's like "Guy who is lowkey a lil obsessed with beating this one guy who is their enemy/rival" x "Guy who sees the other one as this little annoying weak bug who just keeps coming back to annoy them"

It's funny to me😂

They also just have a flavor of banter I like
