Steampunk Octopus Wedding Cake Toppers
Another tentacle based sketch I'm afraid.
So fancy.

Black binder with a metallic-dry-brushed top-hatted octopus and gears, and embellished with three hanging charms: gold beetle on a gold chain, copper compass on a copper chain, and silver bee on a silver chain. Inside, there are 32 pages of 'aged' coppery parchment paper to get you started (paper is slightly darker than appears in the photo). Though steampunk has no direct magical associations per se, it does seem to hold a magic all its own. Gold is the metal most commonly associated with the sun, and people have given it attributes of everything from personal growth and accomplishment to financial success and power. It appears in nearly every culture, and almost always is a symbol of wealth and status. Silver appears in a number of magical traditions, and often is considered a neutral metal. It’s typically associated with moon magic, and all that comes along with it, such as intuition, wisdom, and psychic sensitivity. If you’re trying to develop your psychic skills, consider a bit of silver jewelry to enhance your efforts. Silver is typically connected to the sixth chakra and can be used to help open up your third eye. In other magical systems, silver is considered a reflective sort of metal, not just physically but on a metaphysical level. It is said that silver can reflect negative energy and help prevent psychic attack. Copper is an excellent conductor of magical and spiritual energies. It is also associated with currency and financial well being. You can place a few pieces of copper in your kitchen, it is said to bring money your way. Finally, you can use copper in healing magic. Have you ever seen those little copper bracelets that people wear, that are supposed to help with aches and pains? There may or may not actually be any science behind that, but on a metaphysical level, many people swear by it.
Mermay day 27: When doing such challenges as Inktober and Mermay, I like to use these as opportunities to try new things, new material, new styles, new techniques... here I tried acrylic for the first time. The painting is far from perfect but it was a lot of fun to try new things. I learned I'd better start working on bigger panels if I want to keep going because small details are difficult to paint, I learned paper reacts in a lovely way to acrylics, even better than to watercolor, I realized that even if I felt like a color theory fraud I was still able to do nice things with a small color palette. It was a nice experiment! Can't wait to explore this technique more.
