Kobold race design

Catiss Kobold, the alternative to the previously established Venix Kobold (who prior to now did not have a subrace name, they were just *the* Kobold).

Further disgraced from their draconic ancestors than most, the Catiss endure shame from many other Kobold. Their faces are wider, and sport large cobra-like frills on the sides. Their scales are so small they can almost be mistaken for fur. Brushing a Catiss backwards is certain to cut one’s hand open. Their innate element is water.

Catiss bodies are quite long, from both limb and torso. However, their hind legs come up short, ironically giving them a silhouette closer to that of a true dragon than their brethren. Catiss tails have far less girth to them than that of the Venix, seeming far skinnier overall. Their scales range from blue to purple.

Worshippers of brass, builders of tech. The Serline are strictly of the Mechanist Order, having a majority of the founders being of their kin. Fast thinkers, methodical, and sly these serpentine cats will doubtless find many creative outs and ins for any situation.

Holding no focused alliance to any of the star-racing corporations, Goblins can be found in any such corporate factions. Goblins may choose their faction based on who they believe to be winning, or mayhaps even which they think will suit them best. However, Goblins are an uncommon sight in the Mechanist Order, being more common in Stone Tower.

This race of short felines has a matriarchal culture. Their women are typically quite bulky in comparison to their male counterparts, often able to lift nearly twice their weight. It is commonly assumed the reason for this extreme sexual dimorphism, is for the females to protect the nest while the males use their lighter frames to stealthy snag kills.

"Firm believers in technological superiority. They design technology that grants the everyman a chance to compete with magically gifted individuals. The only drawback is that their technology is disrupted by the same magic they compete with. As a result, they are bitter rivals to the Aethyr Sect."

-Aethyr Sect-

"Magically gifted by the gods, the Aethyr Sect upholds the balance of the universe's Aethyr. With the Mechanist Order being seen as disruptors to this disorder, they frequently clash the Order. However, the Sect has many enemies."

-Steel Tower-

"Infamously low intellect, the point they have a natural resistance to magical attacks. Where the Sect and the Order will utilize the elements for their star travel, the Tower instead uses high explosives to launch themselves into the stars. While their resistance to magic is admirable, bullets do not discriminate."

-Voice of Dusk-

"Beings of, or aligned with hell who despise the living. Their travels amongst the stars are through rips in reality. Their dark arts befuddle magicks, and shred through metal. However, speed is a consistent issue. Each spell has a lengthy chant before casting. Should anyone be too slow on the draw, their very essence will be torn asunder."

Kobold

Names: Kobold names feature frequent hissing and purring sounds. The use of the letters S and X are quite common, especially for the ending of the name. On rare occasions, the letter Z may be used.

"Once considered a member of the dragon gene tree, the Kobold are the result of irresponsible breeding by an unknown entity. Some Kobold believe that they were stripped of their dragonic status for their sins, while others wonder if it is a challenge by the gods. Both schools of thinking collectively agreed that to make up for their losses, they needed to get creative. Through centuries of intense study, the Kobold have become some of the brightest mechanical engineers in the world.

To create is to strive. To strive is to create. These feline-esque serpents take great pride in their mechanical works, often forming Lab Bonds with like-minded Kobold and even their Dwarven allies. Lab Bonds act as a miniature company, often crafting specific products. Oft treasured are Lab Bonds that produce firearms and vehicles. To craft a tool that gets adopted as Machinist Standard is considered one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Kobold.

Blunt, and analytical by nature, the Kobold do not sugarcoat their words well. They tend to hold specific interests in their crafts, a specific interest that they have great understanding of. Should a Kobold catch wind of a discussion involving such an interest, they are likely to butt into the conversation, adding their insight to the matter. They are known to dip out of conversation abruptly, however, if it is not stimulating enough."

While we've not fully discussed whether or not to include sub races yet, I (Klee) have been working on sub races for the Kobold for funsies. I'll have to draw them up later, but the Kobolds posted here already are what we'll call Venix Kobold. A new subrace, Catiss, are more cobra-like in appearance, being even further away from their draconic lineage than their Venix brethren.
