JOHN SEIGENTHALER: Well, he [Stephen Smith] is a very stand-up guy, you know, he’s a very stand-up guy. But I’ll tell you how he was about his brother-in-law: He let them make the decisions for themselves... LARRY HACKMAN: He was their man. SEIGENTHALER: ... and once they did it, he was there. That’s the way it was in ‘68. He didn’t want ‘68 but he said, “The little fellow wants to do it and we’ll have to do it for the little fellow.” That’s what he called him, “the little fellow.”
Oral History Interview
Is it normal to call an older brother-in-law a “little fellow” in English-speaking countries? I thought the same thing when Jackie called Bobby “that boy”. Anyway, I think he was truly loved by them.
※ I don't know who that is on the right side of the photo, I think it was Stephen but I forget😵💫
