😳....#Repost @akanundrum ・・・ - blogged by: @avah_taylor - #MTV is set to air a new documentary called #WhitePeople. Directed by Filipino journalist and immigration activist #JoseVargas, the show aims to shine the light on #WhitePrivilege and follows 5 young people across the country as they deal with being White in America. Vargas was part of The Washington Post team that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for coverage of the Virginia Tech Massacre. Despite the controversy surrounding the show, the network is standing by their decision to air the documentary. MTV President #StephenFriedman said: "Whiteness often remains unexamined in conversations about race in this country, even as it acts as the implicit norm against which other racial identities are judged. By shining a spotlight on whiteness, we hope 'White People' will serve as a powerful conversation starter that encourages our audience to address racial bias through honest, judgment-free dialogue." The documentary premieres Wednesday, July 22, on MTV and is intended to "spark constructive conversations." ™@balleralert
