Hi!!
This is for the book ask:
#1, 3, 10, and 20!
I can't wait to read your answers!
You're so sweet Steph xx. Thank you! Hiiii!!!
I can't remeber what order these go in haha.
What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?
My most anticipated book of the year was The Hunter by Tara French, about a detective that moved to rural Ireland and tries to build a life but it doesn't last long, the peace he searches for.
However. I didn't read it yet haha.
What were your top five books of the year?
Ooo okay okay.
1. The Knight and The Wizard by Gene Wolfe; so many characters, such a great story, my favorite of his works by far. I particularly loved the talking cat and the knighthood aspects, etc. Highly recommend it if you like fantasy.
2. The Woodcutters by Thomas Bernhard; he's so fucking funny honestly. Such dark humor. The basic premise is that a young artist spends a night with artists and exposes hypocrisy, vanity and self delusion.
It's great!!!
3. A little life by Hanya Yanagihara. I read this three times this year. Changed my life. Go in blind; but I'm warning you Its super dark. Apparently people don't reread it bc it's so traumatic....
4. Heavens official blessings volume 2. Love is real.
5. Flowers of evil by baudelaire ( les fleurs De mal). I used it for inspiration for my dark academia Steddie au.
What was your favorite new release of the year?
I don't think I have one because it's hard for me to break away from authors and genres o really like, and sometimes I literally judge the book by how big the print is...
Did you reread anything? What?
Yes, a little life. I'd also say I reread a lot of fanfiction for BTS, wangxian; I'm making a friend a wangxian fic rec for the holidays ( Hannukah).
