The Group Chat
An unofficial yet common aspect of polyamory is the group chat. It’s a place where all members of a certain polycule can communicate, have themselves heard, and send memes. Being a part of a system it was hard to find a setup that worked for the three of us while allowing us to keep our own identities, workout running multiple accounts. Originally we planned on using the Discord bot called tupperware, but we’re not the most technologically inclined. We did make ourselves a discord server tho and we use it to keep track of important dates and leave notes for each other since we’re not all out at the same time.
While talking to another system on Instagram they mentioned an app they use for alters to text each other, called SelfTalking. In the app you can have multiple “group chats” and each alter can have their own name and picture show up. For us at least the app has been glitchy at times and deleted messages, but overall it’s very user friendly and it works without WiFi which is a plus.
